Stilton: Homeworld's one of those games I've always meant to get around to playing, but for some reason haven't. I've never heard anything bad about it.
I would insta-buy these games if they were released here.

avatar
IronArcturus: Yeah, Cataclysm was an interesting game too. The "Beast" enemy had a real Borg feel to them. In Skirmish mode, if you played The Beast, there was an ability to take over other ships and use them as your own!
Thanks IronArcturus! This reconnects some of my neurons! :-P
I remember that you need a different approach to fight Beast infected ships during the campaign. I never tried multiplayer.

avatar
IAmSinistar: The Homeworld games are great, I really hope we get them here. Cataclysm is actually developed by a different studio, but is an excellent part of the series. The enemy is called The Beast, and it has the ability to infect and take over ships that come to close to its vessels. I actually enjoyed it more than Homeworld 2, but the first Homeworld is the best of them all.
I checked my box. It was developed by Barking Dog Studios under license of Relic and distributed by Sierra.

IAmSinistar: Interesting side note, Homeworld parallels some of the narrative of Battlestar Galactica, and was actually proposed as a BG game at one point. This all came full circle when in Battlestar Galactica: Razor, the narrator of Homeworld appeared as one of the Cylon ship controllers (the same role that the character Karan Sjet plays in Homeworld). There are moments in the new BG series where you can feel the influence of Homeworld, especially in the dogfights and in the music.
Cool! Sadly I never watched Battlestar Galactica. I'll keep my eyes open for it if I ever get the chance to watch BG.

LeoLR: My memories about it are a bit foggy. I played it a long time ago.
It's one of the many games I have which I always plan to replay but never get to do it. :-P

Stilton: I'm going to make a point of playing it; its one of the benchmark games that people sooner or later start talking about again. I'll be missing out on the fun if I don't ;-)
You guys made me think about Homeworld and I went rummaging around in my closet and look what I found:
IIRC the main games were cheap but I had to give and arm and a leg for Cataclysm, been so long I'd forgotten I even bought them. ;)

Edit: Horrible grammar.

Hey, that's excellent. So close I can almost reach out and....stub my fingers on my monitor. Thanks for showing ;-)

Sorry, didn't mean to 'show off' but I was thrilled to be reminded I had these. So far this sale I've been reminded of those and got started playing NOX so I scored pretty well. ;)
Thanks for that, so far the sale itself has been a bit of bust. Hope your fingers are OK. :)

It's weird, but I really wanted to take them off your desk (just to look at them, of course), so I grabbed the image instead. A nice souvenir of this drugged snails through molasses laced with glue sale of the same items over and over again 'event' that were sitting through. My fingers are fine ;-)
Wonder if Windforge has been patched to at least the fully playable level. Anyone heard?
The forums are so dead I'm probably reaching about 6 people here but you never know. ;)

Thanks, it seems it still has a long way to go.
I'm just kind of interested in the concept of the game, but not the buggy mess it's reputed to be.
Geez, it echoes in here, never have I seen a major sale thread this dead. Even the insomnia thread is busier than these, a year after the sale's over. :/

Yeah....seems like you kinda have to crank up the insanity a bit or start torturing people with godsawful music videos to keep the activity level going.

Bad thought - it's going to get progressively slower the closer it gets to the weekend. Might as well keep a pillow next to the keyboard for that part of the sale.

This coma inducing sale isn't helping much, it's like they set it on 'repeat' and all went on vacation.
It's more exciting on normal days than this.
This truly is the most unlike a sale sale I've ever seen. Even the people who want to buy the games seem to be deserting. Don't GOG monitor this forum?

And that 40 minutes a game arrangement needs to go. Put them on for 10 minutes a pop, and so what if they come round more quickly - at least there would be some energy and people could get the games they want without playing this mind numbing game.

Sadly we have to accept that this forum represents a VERY small percentage of paying customers here. GOG makes decisions with their wallet like any other sane company. :/

Pretty sure Judas is around quite a bit, but also pretty sure he has no say in how any of the sales are actually structured. Also, it would've been great to get an actual timeframe on the whole "new games" part of the flash sale.

Fuck it. Stilton? Don? Either of you have a game in mind? I feel like buying something, but I'd way rather grab something for cool people than grab a mediocre title to quench some boredom-fueled acquisition-crazy impulse.

How about Mark of the Ninja, anyone had a go? Reviewers seem to love it.

Not yet but with 181 ratings and a solid five stars should be a safe bet if it sounds appealing to you.
Edit: I have to type slower or you guys have to edit faster. :)
