Stilton: Homeworld's one of those games I've always meant to get around to playing, but for some reason haven't. I've never heard anything bad about it.
I would insta-buy these games if they were released here.
IronArcturus: Yeah, Cataclysm was an interesting game too. The "Beast" enemy had a real Borg feel to them. In Skirmish mode, if you played The Beast, there was an ability to take over other ships and use them as your own!
Thanks IronArcturus! This reconnects some of my neurons! :-P
I remember that you need a different approach to fight Beast infected ships during the campaign. I never tried multiplayer.
IAmSinistar: The Homeworld games are great, I really hope we get them here. Cataclysm is actually developed by a different studio, but is an excellent part of the series. The enemy is called The Beast, and it has the ability to infect and take over ships that come to close to its vessels. I actually enjoyed it more than Homeworld 2, but the first Homeworld is the best of them all.
I checked my box. It was developed by Barking Dog Studios under license of Relic and distributed by Sierra.
IAmSinistar: Interesting side note, Homeworld parallels some of the narrative of Battlestar Galactica, and was actually proposed as a BG game at one point. This all came full circle when in Battlestar Galactica: Razor, the narrator of Homeworld appeared as one of the Cylon ship controllers (the same role that the character Karan Sjet plays in Homeworld). There are moments in the new BG series where you can feel the influence of Homeworld, especially in the dogfights and in the music.
Cool! Sadly I never watched Battlestar Galactica. I'll keep my eyes open for it if I ever get the chance to watch BG.
