Linko64: I'm sorry to hear that, though i can't tell you exactly what happened (or even when, i assume it was a while back before i worked with them) i can assure you requests/questions are always answered so feel free to shoot again and hopefully this time it won't deflect into your chest, bust soak deep into my spongey chest!
fronzelneekburm: Oh, that was waaaaaaaay back before your time and didn't even concern me personally lol. It was some gog/Zoom behind the scenes drama about (IIRC) Killing Time. Whoever handled Zoom's Twitter at the time had a public hissy fit about it and when concerned goggers asked what this was all about, they were told that it was none of their business. Just struck me as a bonehead move and it left a sour taste in my mouth when I read about it on this forum.
Much more important issues that do concern the here-and-now version of Zoom:
- When are you guys going to overhaul the website? This has been asked before, but I'll reiterate it because holy hell the current website is awful and this should be the top priority. Especially browsing the catalogue and the main page.
- Are you guys ever doing sales?
- Are you guys releasing the Red Candle Games titles (Detention, Devotion) any time soon? If you're going to get yourselves firewall'd, might as well do it while you're still small. ;)
I'm sorry to hear that, i think the Killing Time topic is well known among GOG users, but that's in the past and all i can promise is a little more care and dedication to coms rather than the limited time they had (mostly to not having anyone in the role!)
As for the other points -
Website is being worked on as we speak to make it much nicer to look at and use. The main focus is also to make it a breeze to view games by their release dates, publishers etc just so those looking for that game they kinda remember from 1994 have a easy chance finding it.
Sales are something that is being worked on. The main issue with sales is having the time to work on them and create the line between the relevant parties. With more people on board, those in the know can focus on dealing with the sales and getting them approved and live.
As for Devotion, we did reach out to them as noted in our discord, which was posted here, but that was about it. From a personal perspective, i think they understood that releasing it via their own site would probably make them more money and more control. They wouldn't even need to market it.
Linko64: Again, Gut feelings are fine but alas if you don't reach out or ask question, how do you expect your gut feeling to change?
WinterSnowfall: Well, you ingest news and occurrences as things progress and sometimes the gut behaves in completely different ways. It is, after all, a gut :P.
Having a nice and open community manager and all is good, but my gut is still obstinate. Perhaps it's because I know good people working in a bad place is a thing. I work for the devil himself and know his ways. What can I say, he pays well.
Linko64: EA and Zoom working together has long been in the pipeline. As people keep pointing out, we're a small fish so it makes zero sense for the theory that we have somehow pushed out a company owned by one of the richest in the indusrty.
WinterSnowfall: Admit it, you have dirt on EA and are blackmailing them! Oh, wait, I forgot... everyone has dirt on EA, because it's public and there's plenty of it. Nevermind then :P.
I get it, well hopefully we can change the gut feeling in time that's part of the job!
If we had dirt we'd use it to get Future Cop L.A.P.D!
