MODERN475: So, now that it's after Christmas, what is your game of the year? Just type it down, maybe with a short reason.

sunshinecorp: ADOM

Yes, I'm aware it's been around forever (1994) but it got an HD re-release with lots of additions and tweaks that make it an awesome(r) experience.

Thank the developer. :)
I tend to go for RPGs but this year Rebel Galaxy took the number 1 spot and I'm not even a big fan of space games. It's just fun.

Indeed!
For me, The Talos Principle. An awesome puzzle game I never knew I needed. :-)
The best game I played this year would be Defender's Quest.
No brainer, really... THE WITCHER 3! I am expecting last expansion so i can mimic that Russian player with Fallout 4! Thankfully, i don't have a wife (i *borrow* other men's...), i am currently unemployed with a large surplus from couple of last past jobs, so i can afford some serious burning!

mrkgnao: Do you mean a game released in 2015 or a game added to GOG in 2015?
YES!

Matruchus: Before I played Doom I ... definitely its Doom 1.

I totally forgot how good that game is and after I got it in the last sale its definitely the best ever shooter without unnecessary graphical extravagance. Just love it ...
Absolutely. No matter how many FPS I continue to get under my belt (I got away from playing the genre about when Half-Life 1 came out, and only have picked up and started playing everything I've missed over the past 15 years in the past 3 years) Doom1 is still probably in the #1-3 best FPS of all time for me.

The best "newish" games I've played this year are Wasteland 2 and STASIS. and for FPS it's definitely Shadow Warrior 2013.

There are half a dozen others that I've played that are varying degrees of "older" that have been great too. Inquisitor, Gothic (which I'm only about 10 hours into, loving it so far...), Serious Sam 1st Encounter, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Mount & Blade (just started it/have only a handful of hours into it too!! but wwowww~ fun!), and Dark Sun.

Most underwhelming/not as great to me as others hold it is definitely Dust: An Elysian Tail (not that it's not a fun and pretty platformer that I'm enjoying quite a bit. Haven't finished it yet either!)
Hotline Miami 2 I guess, since it's one of the very few new games I played this year. my rig is too old to play newer games, so I stick to de OLD shiet!

so again, Hotline Miami 2 kicks HUGE ass. masterpiece
Kerbal Space Program

Allows to go to orbit, go to mun, other planets, do science, do EVA - anywhere - from nearest pool to thick gases of Jupiter(Jool), build your own space stations, rockets, hyperspeed planes, airplanes, choppers - from parts, like its a LEGO. And applies a lot of physics and calculations to the simulation, whilst giving you full control over the whole process.
Typical scenario: building own rocket for space tourists, flying it(them) into orbit, reentering atmosphere trying not to overheat, landing into the ocean, swimming outside to make photos standing on top of the rocket - whilst waiting for evac.

Its simply awesome.

Cool to see that!
Wicher 3 + Hearts of Stone. A great game with a very good addon.

I am looking forward to play Blood and Wine in 2016.
Fallout 4... i wish it was...
I will have to go with The Witcher 3... but it's not like I played many "2015" games, for example MGS looks great but didn't have chance to try it.
Monopoly it's pretty good too. Or chess. Yea, i'll go with chess. Chess is the game of the year!
