I thought there would never be an other Witcher game but according to the article I linked above, CD projekt Red announced the new game. The new game will not be called Witcher 4 but will be based on the universe.

What are your opinions?
If they keep the core of what made W3 so good then I'm looking forward to it.
The only good Witcher game was the first one.

And the most uncensored. Plus dedicated (calendar was being updated for years, in the extras).

Of course there will. That IP is a cash cow. They'd be foolish to let it stagnate.

And even if this next game in particular isn't called Witcher 4, I'm sure Witcher 4 would eventually come sooner or later. Just like how GTA games sometimes are released as titles with no number, like "San Andreas" and "Vice City," and yet they also release numbered sequels as well.

It clearly states the game will not be called The Witcher 4, only that it will be set in the Witcher universe, so why the heck did you make such a thread title?

Yep, don't know about that. 1 was a good game. 2 never ran on my system (I actually brought the physical collectors edition, and to this day I have not got past the first screen). Gwent, meh, played on IPad briefly, don't like those types of games anyways - prefer Ascension. Thronebreaker I have not played yet. W3 was a typical open world, large map, lots of repeats. Control was a pain, couldn't jump over a twig for instance. Dont get the big raves about it, sure it wasn't bad but 4.9/5 stars?? Also watched most of the netflix series, that was better than expected. Meh, new stuff in it, not going to keep me up at night.

2 was fun, but felt really short and it had a number of bugs, some of them nasty and causing progression issues (at least for me, opened questions back in the day). Mutagens farming was a pain.

I need a slightly better system, in order to play 3. Is like in slow motion. Feels good but generic, doesn't have the good old charm. Open world seems interesting at first sight, but soon gets chaotic and grows out of hand... And the MMO-like feeling, whenever marching into "that area with overlevelled enemies", or creatures that can one-shot you, that 's cold ese. You easily feel lost. And it was the ONLY game, that GOG didn't give away a GUIDE in the extras! Instead, they silently partnered with Prima, who overcharged/overmonetized it and in the prologue, it described "the parties thrown at basement level and 1st floor of CDPR building and the employees going fluff"!

I beta tested of sorts and enjoyed the tabletop adventure (the one with Geralt, Jaskier, Triss and Yarpen), before the nerfs and Geralt being degraded into a walking bad luck cluckee.

I beat Thronebreaker with a number of different endings, felt basic, had nice story.

The musical wasn't the best one. There was another one held in other countries. I especially adored a Danish singer with red dress. The one sold here, mainly features a semi talentless, much younger, howling something mighty, lass. Brrrrr!

Good point to point out again.

i'd be surprised to see witcher 4 so soon after cyberpunk 2077 unless they're announcing it as the next game they will be starting (available in 5 years time)
but yeah.. this is pretty much what i was thinking too
Would be interesting to play a different Witcher who perhaps just finished his training. Maybe then there would be a more interesting RPG system possible then in Witcher 3.

I'd agree it was the best one, but I thought they were all good games. They seemed to go, as most sequels do, a bit downhill as each was released.

I'm pretty sure that the Netflix series has accelerated their plans, it's one of the most watched series ever, and it would be stupid not to exploit this hype as long as Netflix will produce it.

maybe, but how many teams do they have at CDPR? i thought everyone was busy with cyberpunk at the moment?
that should be winding down soon, but then it'll take years to get another game out surely?

CD Projekt CEO Adam Kiciński has said the company is already working on a single-player game to follow Cyberpunk 2077, which will be released this September.

It will not be The Witcher 4, he clarified, but it may be a Witcher game.

"We've been working on a next single-player game already, creating a clear concept that waits for further development," Kiciński told financial types at a Polish conference, translation kindly provided by Daniel Kłosiński.

"It's already working but we don't want to commit to it yet. We'll start working on this next game right after Cyberpunk 2077.

"I already said there will be no Witcher 4," he added. "I clearly said that Witcher was a trilogy. Simultaneously, we've always emphasised that we want to create Witcher games and the agreement with Mr. Sapkowski confirmed our rights."
