king_kunat: or don't engage in the thread at all
On behalf of GOG users I apologise for engaging with others on the forums, even though I wasn't the one who derailed this thread; I can only imagine it was one of those deviant Linux users who hang around here hoping that GOG will someday engage with them again!

Namur: My gaming machine is from April, 2015, at the time running w7. The migration folders tell me that it iterated to w10 on August, 2016. On the whole this OS install already outlived my cpu cooler which apparently, at best, has a life expectancy of 7 years. Yes, all same hardware shoved in there in 2015 except the replacement cpu cooler, a gpu upgrade swap and an added M.2. And, yes, running games every single day since April 2015.
You've had a Windows PC seeing regular use for 9+ years without a clean reinstall?

Colour me impressed. (No sarcasm.)
Damn, what did I miss?

Just for fun i did a quick check to see if i could find any files or folders as close as possible to April 2015

I found the folder for DA: Inquisition in My Documents/Bioware - 13/05/2015 18:19

Man, i suck. Only one month in and i was already abusing the poor machine by having it run shitty games ;)

My PC is now 7 years old, still on its first Windows installation. A year ago I got my power supply and my CPU replaced but that's it :)

I think the sarcasm and the political part of your post that I've modded are both unnecessary. After all, this is a gaming Forum, I'm sure there are better places on the internet to discuss things that aren't gaming-related.

First of all, my entire post was sarcasm, not just the part you moderated.

What is necessary and what is unnecessary depends on your opinion.

Talking about gaming specifically, for you, a Windows topic becoming a discussion about Linux maybe is grounds for moderation. Even a good-natured discussion of Linux is also a reason for that thread to be locked according to you.

Mine is from 2016 (originally Win7, which I still have on another SSD) and only upgraded to Win10. Still running today. Only thing I changed out was air CPU cooler to liquid CPU cooler.

I still use the Win7 for gaming, though I should probably switch to Win10, but everything works and it's offline, so I guess I'm in no hurry lol.
.
Edit:
I did do a clean install of Win10 though, it seems I may have missed out on the free upgrade thing.

@OldFatGuy
As to the topic, yeah I noticed the update changed my desktop too and added a new search bar or something next to the start button, but I disabled that, was too wierd for me. But otherwise, I didn't really see much difference. But then again, I didn't look very hard. Anything big get added? (Btw, the title makes it sound like the desktop crashed or something lol)

Windows wanted yet a bunch more updates recently, and I already delayed them quite a bit so I just went and got it over with. Luckily my system is still running and hasn't burst into flames.

I know your entire post was sarcastic. Lupineshadow I need to ask you again not to post anything political here. If you will continue to do that I'll have to take further moderation actions.
Update on my problematic laptop.
Got it back today and when turning on the fan made some loud noises and then it stopped the fan. The repairman changed the fan supposedly and said the components aren't in good shape.
But now i get an error system fan stopped working 90b.
I know it's an old laptop but the new fan was't supposed to stop. Now my hp probook 4540s is kinda unusable.
Wonder if it's possible to make the fan run again
