Well, seems Microsoft wanted to do a major OS version update and now all the games are going to have to be updated from Win 10 to Win 11. There is also talk of losing 32 bit support with the system. I would not put this past Microsoft.

Guess we will have to start looking more into Virtual Machines.
It will be obligatory or I would be able to keep my Windows 10 like it is?
When is this happening?
Why don't you wait for an actual announcement, instead of unfounded rumors based on strange coincidences?

Well. the information previously posted was that Win10 would be supported until 2025, so I think it may be a bit early to panic.
This is very disturbing news.

What happened to Windows 10 being "the last version of Windows" according to Microsoft?... as documented in articles like this:

Because these rumors are totally founded, or whatever the opposite of unfounded would be. In any case, The Verge claims that it's Win 11 Screenshots are legit and I also have word that some folks I know in tech are already going to be using a beta version of the software for business. What this means is that yes, Microsoft is pushing this and on June 24th, we will probably get an official announcement.

It would also make no sense for GOG to not update because of the 2025 deadline, because all of the new games will be equipped to run Windows 11. It'll be the same standard that Windows 10 had when GOG had to mass update all their games and is still updating installers.
I wouldn't just assume things. I also dont think you would have to update installers since under the hood will be the same as windows 10.

Microsoft has announced Windows 10 support up to some time in 2025, so it has at least 4 years of support left before it goes EOL. Don't have a link handy but I saw the article and support page on Microsoft's website a number of days ago.

It's just a case of at the time they intended for Windows 10 to be the last release going forward and be a rolling release, but that since then they have changed their mind. So they said one thing before with that being the intention, but have changed their minds since because they're not obligated to stick to the original idea by any means. I didn't think it would be permanently Windows 10 either, but I'm surprised they've changed plans already from what they previously announced.

Hopefully with a 5 year window, they just let people update to it freely on their own time and terms though rather than the shady tactics they had downloading Windows 10 in the background and forcing it on everyone before.

You will not get security updates to Windows 10 after 2025, just like you stopped receiving security updates to Windows 7 in January 2020.

New features will stop coming to Windows 10 probably years before 2025.

Link? Just to understand what that "update all games" is supposed to mean.

I don't consider it plausible that Windows 11 wouldn't have backwards compatibility at all, which is what your comment suggests.

No it's not just an assumption.

Windows 11 is being widely covered across many major and totally credibile tech outlets. They wouldn't all be reporting on it if it wasn't true.

And likewise with that old quotation where Microsoft directly claimed that Windows 10 would be the last Windows OS ever.

So it's becoming pretty clear that Microsoft lied by claiming Windows 10 was the last. I hope someone sues them over that.

Sure they are. They are ethically obligated if they have any morals.

And they are also legally obligated, because selling Windows 10 under the false premise of it being the last Windows OS ever is false advertising on their part. That's against the law.

Listen guys.

I have enough stuff to panic about which are happening now.

Do we really need to care about 2025 now? I'm really tapped out.

I mean. I can squeeze some effort to be enraged about changes happening in 4 years if you guys think we should....
