It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

dtgreene: * Non-free software should be installable, but there should be a prompt every time, so it would be necessary to individually opt in to each non-free package you want to install. In particular, installing one non-free package should not bypass the prompt for installing other non-free packages.
...
In gentoo ... you need to manually edit a certain file
The problem with simple confirmation prompts is that they're too easy to ignore and just accept, kind of like mandatory pre-installation EULAs. I prefer the Gentoo method. Requiring a little effort makes it more likely you'll think about it first. I've rejected several packages because I didn't like their license. Then again, at 115 lines now for me, it is a pain to maintain, like most of my other exception lists (still probably the shortest). --autounmask-license=y will add the line automatically, with only etc-update required to apply the changes. Otherwise, it doesn't even directly tell you what to do:

!!! All ebuilds that could satisfy "www-client/google-chrome" have been masked.
!!! One of the following masked packages is required to complete your request:
- www-client/google-chrome-95.0.4638.69::gentoo (masked by: google-chrome license(s))
A copy of the 'google-chrome' license is located at '/usr/portage/licenses/google-chrome'.

As usual, gentoo fails hard in the documentation department. In fact, it recommends you go the the MASKED PACKAGES section of the man page, which tells you nothing about how to edit package.license. Also, if you auto-unmask, it won't tell you where to find/read the license file, but it will tell you the right man page, even though you don't really need it:

The following license changes are necessary to proceed:
(see "package.license" in the portage(5) man page for more details)
# required by www-client/google-chrome (argument)
>=www-client/google-chrome-95.0.4638.69 google-chrome

Sorry for the sidetrack.
I guess when you have such a beast, It can be hard to tame, for some...

patrikc: What about Cortana?
Start -> "Updates" -> Upgrade Windows 10 to Windows 11.

There! Cortana gone, in three single steps!

(yes I wrote that with tongue firmly in the cheek. Anyway, it is good MS itself realized Cortana sucks about as much as that paperclip with freaky eyes and the helpful puppy, hence they removed it from the default Windows 11 installation.)

patrikc: Have you ever tried Pop OS?
Never!

No reason. Another Ubuntu derivative for home users, right? I guess I could use it too, if I felt I wasn't happy with what I am already using.

Oh and it apparently has GNOME by defauilt, not a big fan of that but I guess I could use it too. I tend to use XFCE with Mint because XFCE is supposed to be lightweight (doesn't use much resources for useless eye-candy etc.) and does everything I want from a desktop environment.

Dark_art_: The numbers for Edge are surprisingly high. Guess making Edge open every sort of file by default, including PDF's was the right move. Wich brings the question, why anyone sane would open a off line PDF with a web browser?

Orkhepaj: it is a good browser thats all
Thanks for the laugh ;)

Well, I guess people used to Internet Explorer might think Edge is good. But they are the same people who think that Windows 11 is good, a good hint about how clueless they are…

Yup, you could change it to a few different ones. There was also a cat which said something about a mouse.

What if Microsoft decided your hardware is not eligible? And what prevent them to restrict their OS to more drastic thing in the future. And in the future when you'll buy your new hardware and the update will be paid only you will pay just to remove some stupid spying bloatware.

My memory may be failing me, but I always thought "clippy" was the annoying assistant in Microsoft Office products, while the "puppy assistant" was some generic nuisance in... was it Windows XP already?

EDIT: These were the ones I was talking about:

Microsoft officially recommends such users to upgrade to Linux instead.

Or at least they should recommend that.

evidence for what? i told you to check the confidentiality part on setting and you'll see that all spyware are enable by default.

And dont act like you didn't know that Microsoft rejected a lot of device because they decide they not meet the stupid requirement so yes what prevent them to ask for more drastic condition in their future OS knowing that most of user will rather buy a new seup than switching to Linux.

why would most of the users buy new setup rather than switch to linux? is linux that bad?
so far win10 works fine
i think they need those extra security for their ms store or partners asked for better anti tamper like proper way to make anticheats

timppu:
Thanks. I like this quote from the File Explorer article, which demonstrates Microsoft's expected behavior pretty well:

In order to maintain a relevant list of file types, Windows Explorer connects to Microsoft and downloads a set of XML files that define what these file types are. The Search Companion can be disabled in favor of the classic search pane used in Windows 2000 by using the Tweak UI applet from Microsoft's PowerToys for Windows XP, or by manually editing the registry.
Download stuff behind the user's back, and make a feature hard for the average user to disable, and slap on a cartoon dog to give it a friendly face. Also, from reading this, it looks like you can't disable the downloads without disabling the advanced searching entirely, but that may be inaccurate.
