I wish they'd tell us. We have a few here, but not enough. I really want Academagica (sp) and the other one by that company. They refuse to answer my emails to tell me how purchasing from them directly works (with regards to DRM...) They were reportedly refused from GOG.

That's a great point!

I would like to see the +18 versions of Grisaia to be available on GOG. Having other visual novels like Phoenix Wright, Policenauts, Snatcher, and others would be nice as well.

Here's hoping that GOG ditches the curatorship mentality, as it does nothing but alienate customers and developers from the service.

I disgree. I just wish they were a little bit more open. Especially with accepting non-classic back catalogs. They're good at accepting classics, and new stuff (including indie) but the items in between they seem to reject a heck of a lot.

KiNgBrAdLeY7: Ah, ouch, damn. There are some OUTSTANDING visual novels out there. GoG has to accept at least some, at the very least the mainstream and popular ones! Come on, gog...
Any novels you can recommend? I'm curious about visual novels because I almost only play games for the story.

F4LL0UT: So basically you're saying that VNs are better, yes?

pimpmonkey2382.313: Yeah except the exact opposite. :p
It sickens me that you would put gameplay above vaginas.

Sure.

Fate Stay Night is very good.

Mashiro Iro Symphony: Love is Pure White.

And personal favorite, which got an english release but censored (by censored in its case it is removal of real life guns in-game library and their real names), Phantom of Inferno.

They are something between a game and a movie. Others remind an old style adventure but with less control over motion and events. In any case, they are very good and it is a shame GoG hasn't brought any...

Well if they were real vaginas, I might just change my opinion. But japanamation vaginas don't get a rise out of me.

Yeah because Steam has become so much better since ditching curation.. oh wait it hasn't since you hear more often then not it has become a breeding ground of shit and that it's often harder to find good games unless you have time to waste searching through that pile of crap to find the diamond in the rough, like Desura did.

Honestly I said it once and I will say it again, no curation is never a good idea. a little more laxed curation sure or a option where if GOG rejects a game it can be kicked over to the community here and we can vote on it, sort of like a greenlight but with certain rules where if a game was rejected for being broken, half finshed, being something that was tossed together in unity with store bought assests, ect. then it won't be up for voting.

I think that would be a fair way of doing things.

How can GOG "alienate customers" it's not particularly trying to attract in the first place? Do you also feel alienated by McDonald's because they're not offering pizza and seafood? That's part of running a business, deciding which products to offer and which types of customers to cater to - and which not.

Thanks, I will check these out. I like adventure games without puzzles, the puzzles just gets in the way of the story so if it's anything like that then I might like them.
Shame about Sekai (im one of the fans of VN's generally speaking) - they seem to be pretty active pumping new VN's regularly via Kickstarter and i would have loved to see their stuff on GOG. Like someone else said, GOG sells movies why not VN's? (i would think they would sell more imho)

Righto! Digital goods spoil while in stor...oh. Well, they take up physi...um. There is a limited sup...er.

Same thing, they are! You can bet that if McDonalds could magically sell all types of food at similar pricing and decent quality, they would totally ignore the possibility of serving a wide variety of customers. No, they obviously must concentrate on a very specific demographic. That is surely the path to success!

Digital and physical goods do not follow the same rules. Furthermore, I thought GOG sold games in general, with an emphasis on them being DRM-free. Why should visual novels be excluded from the GOG catalog on that basis?
I didn't think that I'd like VNs until I played Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. That game made me realize the potential for a game that focuses on story more than anything, with some light gameplay elements thrown in. It's really too bad it's a PS Vita only game, as I think it would find a much wider audience if it was released on PC.

If anyone could suggest to me similar games on PC (I sadly no longer have a VIta), I'd love to hear them.
