DreamedArtist: I noticed something, why are there no GOG staff or anyone higher up coming in here to clear stuff up or tells us about what they had in mind doing this?
Here it's dead silent besides the response of YES you have to use Galaxy to download the game pre launch.
My theory is:
- The bosses told the lower level members of the company not to say anything about controversial issues like this.
- In the past, that didn't happen, because GOG wasn't indulging in as many controversial issues.
- The bosses realize that if the GOG employees spoke about the matter in a way that tried to spin-doctor it in a positive light with PR-speak-type BS, then GOG customers would see right through that crap and call it out for what it is. So speaking would just further damage GOG's reputation rather than do anything to help make things better.
Especially since the only
real way to make things like this better would be for: a) GOG publicly to apologize for having done it in the first place and also b) to patch the game to remove the DRM-gate off of the content (and likewise also with other games that have the same thing, i.e. No Man's Sky).
But it seems like the bosses at GOG don't want to do that. And without them having any desire to do that, then there's nothing they could possibly say that would make this stuff okay with GOG's customers...which is a point that the bosses will be well-aware of.
Hence, they probably figure it's better to say nothing since there is no upside to them for allowing GOG to make statements about this, unless they intend to change course, which they apparently don't.
