Ultimately, he comes to terms with the fact that he is not his father and some similar choices, and even inheriting his mantle, didn't mean he wasn't free to make his own and seek his own path in life.
Honestly, never liked that twist. But still, Terry came to terms with it quite fast. He didn't throw a fit and quit being Batman for several years.

I'm terribly sorry for not answering all your points (and you've shown that you're not willing to understand different perspectives in some of them, which is fine), but it's late here and I am quite tired.

But I will comment on these two:

A) There was a moment in my life, years ago, that I was so depressed because of my job that I struggled to get up and do stuff every day. I literally functioned on autopilot sometimes and didn't find a point at all in my duties. Yes, I could quit, could look for another job, etc, but I had zero energy, zero motivation. I never considered suicide, but, hell, I absolutely understand what drives people into it. So, answering your question: in a way, yes.

B) I'm telling you that a hyper motivated teenager who had just found out his perceived only family left alive is his once-powerful-hero father is a different character than a world weary war veteran living under the shadow of his own gigantic successes, and frustrations that with all his power he can't seem to have the power to do something "as simple" as stop his nephew from turning evil and consequently, another evil empire rising and a new war. Yes, both characters are supposed to be the same person, but there are decades of struggle and experience between them.

If you need a character with similar level of differences between old version and young version, see Johnny Cage in MK11. We get to understand his change better because we got to see it in past games, but it is still a character going through a massive change in personality and way of seeing things.

I'm willing. But only if the "perspective" is logically sound or at least consistent. And I'm afraid, I can't say that about your reasoning for both Luke's and Teela's behavior.

About Luke, I don't know, maybe you're right?

But I don't think it would be unthinkable that the son of a man, who was led to believe he was the most legendary absolutely powerful being in the universe from a young age (and yet be powerless to save his mother), who murdered absolutely everyone and everything he knew and loved, including children, because he had a bunch of bad dreams about his wife and child dying, would consider in any way a valid option to kill the nephew he's being training and nurturing from a young age, because he had a bad feeling the spoiled little brat would turn evil.

And Anakin had all the good teachers and role models, Qui Gon, Obi, Yoda, Mace Windu. They still failed to stop him from going evil. Luke knew his father's story, knew he was failing like his masters failed his father. He was a legend and the most fucking powerful Jedi in the universe and still felt powerless to save his nephew, so, maybe he could save the universe again at the cost of his nephew's life? Maybe? Tempting, right?

I don't know, man, maybe there's a central theme going in there somewhere. Maybe I'm seeing too much where there's very little in all actuality. Who knows?

I think given what we've seen of Luke in the original trilogy it's entirely unthinkable. After everything Vder did, he saw good in him. He refused to strike down even the Emperor himself in anger. And now he would consider killing an as-of-yet innocent kid? No way.

Now, with some skillful writing and enough time it might perhaps be possible to bring Luke to that point. But presenting it to us as a done deal like that? And after they did have a whole previous movie they could have used for that, but instead they wasted it on remaking A New Hope? Nope. Sorry. That's just bad writing.

And now, just for fun, I'll fix the new Masters of the Universe. It's laughably simple, really.
Have what is the first episode be the fifth episode. Start out with four episodes of "normal" He-Man adventures. Establish, for new audience, the status quo before you make a big deal of changing it. Give the long time fans a dose of what they waited for before you pull the rug. Establish why Teela would feel so betrayed. Better yet - have her learn He-Man's identity before the final episode, say in episode 3 or 4, so her tantrum doesn't come at the moment of everyone's grief, making her instantly unlikeable. Instead, if she leaves understandably pissed off before the big battle, she'd have a real arc, fighting her sense of guilt for not being there for the big fight, while the others would have a good reason to feel bad about the secret, since keeping it broke the fellowship at a crucial moment (unlike now, where it didn't really matter). And then you end the first part of the season with He-Man seemingly dead after he and Skeletor had tons of screen time, and intead of a disappointing, rug-pulling premiere you've got a Best of Both Worlds level cliffhanger. There. I fixed your show, Kevin Smith.

I don't know but the blu-ray is $1.19 in Best Buy in NYC.
