SmollestLight: Tbh, I somehow miss the sound of ICQ and Messenger. It's an odd thing, but makes me nostalgic when I remember it randomly.
Uh oh!

Darvond: Technology has changed a lot since the 1890s, from the death of the CRT to the explosion of keyboard mechanisms, there are a lot of sounds that are no longer here.

I miss certain hard drives, and the degassing of a CRT. What do you miss the sound of?

pds41: 1) Dial up modem

2) Cassette loading sounds - Check out the Amstrad CPC 464 with tape drive: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OvChkOHgDIo
That's reminded me of another sound, the firm snap of a floppy disk insertion.

I miss the sounds of late 80's to late 90's arcades.
The ticking and chimes of old grandfather clocks, the "ka-chunk" chime sounds from Zenith Space Command remotes and the beeps and boops of a Big Trak.
Reminds me of this project. Sadly more of an idea than an actually cool website, the database is very limited, and I'm not even sure if the museum page offers other languages than German.

Something like this?
I had forgotten about the sound, but the movie iBoy made me remember it... One of my old cell phones would cause interference in speakers nearby. I'd know a good 15+ seconds before it actually rang that a call was coming in from that. The movie made use of it as part of its regular suite of effects.

Yes, that I recall on cheap shitty speakers, that low bass chirping...

hihihi
Very nice. Sort of. I chose that era because around that time the sounds of the games became very distinct and I remember finding games by SONG at the time. Especially shumps and fighting games.
low rated
The sound of a classic old game hitting the shelves on GOG.com?

shhhhhhhhhhheeeewwwww .... *thunk*!

Well, 80s arcades would at most have small melodies, but in the 90s, yes you could safely find a machine by the OST.
Sorta miss the sound of an old floppy drive, though my Atari 8-bit computer does help there.
The sound of the rotating dial of the original telephone when you dialled a number to make a call...
