As a few others have said, if the powers that be would just implement a damn ignore feature, Fairfox's "unique" writing style would be a non-issue for most people. Obviously some people thrive on bitching and arguing, there's nothing that can be done about that except to let the mods handle it.

You'll notice other users, like myself, have pulled back on our 24/7 bullshit pestering. Some of the worst trolls in here, like myself, aren't NEARLY as bad as we used to be.

Nothing is perfect, nothing is flawless, but I'd say they are doing a pretty good job. Just remember, Rome wasn't built in a day. :D

Wait...

The punchline would be banning you :P

But really, not every user who becomes inactive is banned, some just simply stop posting.
Fairfox is really getting hammered by the down rep bots for the last couple of months if not even more.I will definitely miss her and that unique and mind-bogglingly hard to understand english of hers ;).Cheers

Exactly the speculation, over-dramatization and drama from some users needs to stop. Lets all remember that we are here to primary talk about games, game related news and getting cool games to play on gog- this isn't a mid-day soap opera. Further more unless you have direct evidence of something stop making false claims.
This thread should be a case study in mass-overreaction. Not a shred of fact from which to build our theory, but dont let that stop anyone, Judge away!

EDIT : Beat me to it!

richlind33: You mean this is all about eccentricity?

And here I was thinking it was mostly about her willingness to get down and dirty in political discussions,
avatar
Telika: Yes, it's just about eccentricity. Plenty of other users have had disagreements (I even recently evoked one fairfox position that I considered pretty loathsome), and have brought up more or less politicizing points in different threads, yet aren't chased around forever to get their gaming discussions downrepped to hell. Also, she was antagonized by repugnant creeps of the whole political spectrum.

It's just that she was an easy target for the hypercorrection of self-righteous cunts of all ilk. They need such targets in order to validate themselves, and they'll find another one pretty soon.

Seriously, working in gog.com and having such trashy humans as customers must be truly depressing. But I come more and more to expect this from the videogaming demographics. I learn, what the gog forums teaches about people.
I can only say that your perspective is delusional. She fed into the toxicity, which you blatantly misattribute -- in a Disneyesque fashion -- exclusively to her detractors.

What's really alarming here is the disdain people have for objectivity. There is black and white, and nothing else, leaving a disconnect so profound that problem solving is nigh impossible, because they are always someone else's fault.

You were never a "bad" troll, you're simply not mischievous in general.

Point being, I have toned it down, as have a lot of others.

MarkoH01: Here we go again. I simply post my opinion (which might be my own and maybe that of a minority) and people dowmvote me. This way a normal discussion is simply not possible whenever you don't have the majority behind you. Maybe one day when all of you kids have finally grown up I might participate in any controversial discussion again but for now I simply decided to not participate in any of those discussions here on GOG ever again. Sure that's probably also my fault and I am probably also anti social. But if logical and objective argumentation is also anti social and deserves to be downvoted then I am proud to be anti social.
This is now high rated+1 as it should be... Also, while incomprehensible, she was a great part of the gog forums as an eccentric presence that I'll miss as she showed no real malice and spite, at least from what I've seen...

Wrong. There is only grey. It's the individual who decides if it is black or white. The problem is, that this individual forgets, that this is only its own perception. Others might percieve it the same way (or at least someway similar) or they might not.

Edit: Besides, no-one gets forced to converse with someone they deem toxidic or whatever or even acknowledge their existance in any way to begin with. Failing to distance oneself from something/someone deemed harmful to oneself is not the things/persons fault but solely oneselves.

Edit2: spelling (I hope I fixed it right)

That's a good thing... at least people aren't verbally at each other's throats any more as much. Now if people would actually listen to each other (or read, in this case), we could have good discussions again... ;-)

Examples? While I didn't agree with many of her views (from the time before Fairfoxish and a hundred "gamies" threads) she never came to my mind when I thought about "toxic" people here on the forums.

The problem with objectivity that many people have is that they mistake their subjective opinions and feelings for objective facts. And from this point on a discussion is pretty much pointless (except to maybe convince "third party" readers) because it's religious.

From the depths the light is terribly blinding, from the sky the abyss is scary dark... And so we are stuck in our place too afraid to actually go looking what actually might be on the other side because of the fear what might be there.

FYI, I'm not a bot. And I know a lot of other individual users who aren't bots. We regularly downrepped her because her posts were consistently incomprehensible garbage, and usually rather off-topic as well (or, so you would discover, if you spent the mental effort to decode the gibberish). This isn't one to blame on bots, if such bots even exist. That downward, negative, reputation was entirely earned.

As I said earlier, I don't wish Fairfox any ill will and hope she is fine as a person. But I'm certainly not going to miss those posts whatsoever.

Can vouch for. I used to consistently have to downvote tinyE as well, and would loathe threads when I encountered them where tinyE was present. That's not true anymore.

Which is exactly the real problem here. Especially as you present this information as something like a "badge of honor". I repeat myself even though I already know that you (and those "others") either won't be able or willing to comprehend it:

"People with bad spelling don't worry me. What does worry me, is the fact, that people are "training/conditioning" themselves to be inable to protect themselves from things they deem harmful to themselves. "Ignore" buttons, "block" buttons, "downvote" buttons are used on mundane things, because they are incapable of ignoring things on their own, because they "conditioned" themselves to have to read everything and have to respond to everything. That is unhealthy. Real life doesn't have those buttons."

"Edit: Besides, no-one gets forced to converse with someone they deem toxidic or whatever or even acknowledge their existance in any way to begin with. Failing to distance oneself from something/someone deemed harmful to oneself is not the things/persons fault but solely oneselves."

For short: You don't have to respond/acknowledge/engage/whatever. It is simply that you are incapable not to. And the numbers of people like you are growing (at least it seems like that to me). There is a whole generation of people incapable of steering themselves from the edge of the abyss (any abyss that might present itself), because there is no button for it.
