tinyE: Stronghold Crusader is nothing but timed siege levels!
What happened to build up, get an economy going, build an army?

WTF!?!?

Uninstalling
Yeah, I didn't like Crusader as much as the original either. Haven't tried it myself, but iirc Stronghold 2 is held in very high regard. Perhaps that's a better option. I think it has a fantasy version with dragons and such as well.

Stronghold Crusader 2? That's a pity. Hopefully Stronghold 2 doesn't suffer from the same thing because I really want to try that someday still.

It's that time of year again and I just get this... itch and start hearing the echoes of grenades bouncing off every angle of a room.

Wing Commander 1 at the moment.

I just need to get over my obsession of completing every single mission singlehanded.
Age of Empires II

I just finished Attila mission 4, "A Barbarian Betrothal." This one was pretty tough, and it required a few restarts before I managed to nail it. I had a hell of a time trying to besiege Orléans with its two Castles and a seemingly endless outpouring of defensive armies. I'd forgotten that Throwing Axemen are essentially infantry, which is why my Elite Skirmishers weren't killing them quickly enough. I rectified this in my final attempt by creating Crossbowmen, which worked amazingly well. Not only was my army composition a bit better this time, but I also think I went on the offensive slight earlier, as well. Orléans was still a pain to capture, but it wasn't nearly as insane as before. Moments after I finally demolished their Town Center, I was shocked to witness the arrival of the Western Roman Empire's massive army of Champions and Cataphracts. Much like something straight out of Smash TV, those units just kept flooding in until my armies got wiped out. Reloading an earlier save, I made sure to spare the Town Center until I had a full complement of Halberdiers and Crossbowmen backed by a pair of Castles.

Upon beating the mission, I rushed to Google to read what the various walkthroughs had to say. I take it that most of them were played on Easy or Moderate, because they faced around 90 Romans compared to my 200! Beyond that, one of the guides mentioned researching Heresy - oh, how I wish I'd thought of that! Since Orléans kept sending out Monks to make my life miserable, denying them my converted units would've been helpful.

Alien Nations

This. Damn. Game. It looks like I'm approaching the end of the Pimmons' campaign, and it's been quite a trip. I'm currently working my way through "Bad Ending?", which managed to piss me off right away. In this mission, the enemy Sajkhi will rush you in the first 15 minutes with hunters and pyros - unless you quickly build an Embassy and accept an armistice offer. I didn't realize this until my third playthrough. Now that the Sajkhi aren't attacking me, I'm hoping the mission won't throw any more nonsense at me.

You, sir, have very good taste.

*brofistbump*

(Also satisfying is the soothing sounds of the jump button)

My own entry to the thread: Pillars of Eternity(complete-XboxOne)

It is very fun to play as it reminds me of some more classic RPGs, with the graphical style/plots/etc.

Love: Most items have a unique description, the companions you can recruit(unique ones) have their own dialog when alongside others/various NPCs in the world, and the "use tools or skills/alignments/race/etc to access some areas or choose some dialog options" aspect is also fun.

I also like the text window that pop up with pictures alongside in some cases, as well, as I feel they add I nice touch.....and key items have their own unlimited window so one can pick up as many as they want at any time.

Dislike: The texts(books/documents/etc) once again take up too much space......why new RPGs don't make them have their own unlimited inventory(or implement a system like that in the first Dragon Age) I will never know. Inventory itself(stash and also each individual's inventory) is also very limited.

Nitpicks: One companion(so far) only talks to you a bit and then you need to rest to talk to them again for a bit more.

The screen is also stretched too far horiz/vert on the XboxOne(Unless there is a way to adjust this I didn't see?).

I have decided to play through all my Final Fantasy games.
Completed 1 - 4 and Dissidia. Now playing Dissidia 012.
Trying to complete them as close to 100% as possible.
Then going on from FF 5 - 13.
Trying out Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition, and finding it fun but very difficult. Perhaps I just need a controller and some more practice.

MK much more easier on controller then using a keyboard. I also always struggle.
When I was a little kid and MK3 came out, my friend would play with the keyboard and me with the controller.
Greedfall is an okay Witcher 3 budget version, though the dialog is way worse. Trying to finish it and Control before the 25th, when Obsidian's next masterpiece (hopefully) comes out.
Age of Empires II

Whew! "The Catalaunian Fields" (aka Attila the Hun mission 5) was damn tricky, but I finally beat it. This is one of those missions where you're up against no fewer than three AI opponents, and the fact that it's played deathmatch-style means things will get very chaotic almost immediately. Having the Ostrogoths as an ally was predictably of little comfort or consequence, although I will concede that their Knights helped to destroy a lone enemy Trebuchet at one point.

I went about this mission the hard way. I didn't bother rushing the Alans or the Visigoths with my 10 starting Tarkans since I wasn't confident that they'd be enough to overtake either opponent's defenses. Plus, I'm horrible at multitasking between rushing and monitoring my Villagers. I started by walling off the southern part of my base, but it took at least another half hour of surviving numerous attacks before I fully enclosed my territory. Although I'm fairly bad at micro, I had to get creative in order to thwart certain invasions. Whenever the Alans started attacking random sections of my walls, I had a unit lure them towards my Castles. At some point, I realized that the best way to repel the almighty Roman armies was to have my Cavalry Archers ride ahead and kill their Petards before they reached my walls. Of course, I also learned that it's best to hold off on attacking the Visigoths until right after a Roman invasion. With multiple enemy AIs, there's almost no safe window to go on the offensive without being attacked yourself. Furthermore, I didn't appreciate being restricted to 100 units this time around.

I'm stunned that I got this far in the campaign. But before I get too celebratory, I must remember that the next mission will probably be a real pain to get through. Hell, it'll make this past mission seem easy. I'm not sure how long it'll take me, but I know it's going to be nuts.
Playing Super Mario 3D world on the 3DS, Starcraft remastered on pc and some Witcher 3 mixed with Grand Turismo.
Thinking about if a Switch is worth it at the moment.
