Fable anniversary-incredibly generic rpg setting and story, utterly shallow gameplay, boring music.if this shit wasnt a console exclusive it would probably fade into irrelavancy day 1 it was released 9 years ago.

Borderlands 2-playing it for the 2nd time and having a blast.

Anniversary Ed is, annoyingly console exclusive but its not like there hasn't been a PC version of Fable 1 in the last 9 years:

I quite liked it myself - found switching between and comboing mêlée, bow and magic really fluid and nice

Then again I was going to say that I'm still persevering with TES Chapter 1: The Arena (on the pre-dungeon to the 7th staff piece dungeon of the 8 so getting near the end now, finally) so maybe I'm just easily pleased...

I don't play RPG's very often but when I do I expect them to have the complexity it became popular/revered for.
Model of Honor War Chest.

animalmother2105: Model of Honor War Chest.
Is that a photoshooting simulator? Does it have a swim suit mode? :D

I thought it was a military sim sim. You build a little model of a wargame.

Actually How RPG-isgh would you say the Borderlands games are? - they've always sounded RPG-like but not, like Dead Island, to me...

Sorry to intrude, but Borderlands and the term RPG being used together seems to be triggering a response in me. The Borderlands series of games are not RPGs. They're first-person shooters with character customization. There's you, there's a story, there are people, but ultimately you have no choices. You can't decide to become the dictator of the planet, you can't decide to work for the bad guy, you have no choices that affect anything in any real way other than following the story. You can decide what guns to carry, but that's about it. Have seen people talking about how watered down RPG has become as a descriptive phrase, but there's my line in the sand. If you can't alter the story in any way that really matters? You're playing an action game. Pick your weapons, pick your skills, pick your class, pick crap up off the ground, it's still a frigging action game.

tinyE: There was a History Channel thing on today about the Allied Special Ops during WWII and I've had my head buried into Commandos 1 ever since. Sad because with all these unplayed games I picked up over the holidays here I am playing something I bought when it was first released on disc and have won countless times.
With the first Commandos I'm irritated that you only get the choice between your Commandos being completely silent and, "OI'M COMIN'!" "AHOKAY" "BLARNEY BLARNEY SHAMROCKS O'MALLEY!"
Clive Barkers Undying.

yeah pretty much.I treat it more as a FPS with very few RPG elements.

Was trying to keep to one semi-rant at a time. Noticing Dead Island is for the next time the subject of overhyped bullshit comes up.
In all fairness you could also say that although "rpg" is a label specific genre, all games in essence are an rpg. I mean you arent being yourself in game are you.... youre playing a role......

Just being a d*ck....... but its true. :)
