Seeing the
Mirror's Edge 2 trailer roused me to continue playing Mirror's Edge.
I dropped it before out of boredom, and in the meantime I forgot how to play it (the controls). I found the tutorial under the "Play Chapters"... but now the problem was that it was teaching me how to play it with the XBox360 gamepad, not mouse+keyboard like I was playing it before. No idea what "LT" or "RB" is on the keyboard/mouse... I assume it earlier told me the kb/m controls, otherwise I presume it would have been pretty hard to play the tutorial?
I couldn't figure out if some setting had changed in the options, so I said phuck it and switched my Logitech F310 gamepad to X-Input mode, and started learning to play the game with gamepad controls. It feels ok for 90% of the game, except in those rare cases I actually want to shoot. Aiming with a gamepad just sucks compared to mouse, period.
I played the game somewhat with gamepad, but I am still a bit unsure whether I should try to re-learn the kb/m controls, or continue with this setup. Depends how much shooting there is left. Now I find myself trying to avoid direct contact with the enemies all the time, and now I am stuck to a section that I don't have a choice. I have to knock down at least a few of them in order to proceed.
EDIT: Hmm, now it occurred me that maybe it is teaching me the gamepad controls because it senses there is a gamepad connected?!? I'll have to retry by disconnecting it first...
