Starting up Blood 2 replay (since I just finished the first).

Starting up Soldier of Fortune replay (in anticipation of Payback, which I have not played).

Finally finished Divinity 2 proper and am now in expansion territory. (YEAH! I'm not a dragon anymore... its FUN again!).

Looking for an adventure game to throw in the mix... either GK3 replay or Dear Esther I think.
XCOM: Enemy Unknown. Started up a Classic Ironman and so far loving it. I hope they release more content eventually though.
Psychonauts. Fun game... do see why it didnt sale tough. Currently I am trying to save my friend. I am in guard's mind with that crazy suburb.
I guess I'm higly involved in the game "getting pursuaded by sales to buy far more games than you could possibly play".

Lately I only play Dragon Age:Origins (just created my 8th character as I like the game so much, all of them still advancing through some part of the story), but the last few months I bought:

Spellforce Platinum, Spellforce 2 Shadow Wars & Spellforce 2 Dragon Storm
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon,
Farcry,
Neverwinter Nights 2
on GOG

Dirt 2,
Fuel,
Imperium Romanum,
Grand Ages Rome,
Tom Clancy megapack,
King's Bounty the Legend,
King's Bounty Crossworlds
on Gamersgate

Red Orchestra 2
on Steam

and finally
Warcraft III Reign of Chaos & The Frozen Throne
on DVD.

It'll be in the 2020's before I've got to play them all, if society hasn't collapsed due to Peak Oil by then.
Borderlands 2 -
Apart from some technical problems (annoying freezes here and there) this game is a perfect example of how to make a good sequel.
MDK is finished and boy, that was an awesome game! A bit short but it's actually good because the game would become boring and repetitive otherwise. Plus my wrist is shouting Why did you do this to me but much lauder than this poor guy ;) My bad that I thought about remapping the keys to WASD in the last level. Ouch, that hurts...

I have to pick a new game to play...

Stalker, Shadow of Chernobyl, with the complete mod. It seriously makes the game better, I think. I'm not doing too many side quests, because I'm interested in finishing it and if I take too long, I'll get bored with it.

I then may start original Fallout. It's another game I started and never finished, so I'll give it a second go.

I've got Metro 2033 installed, but I'm only a few save points in. Same thing with Warhammer Dawn of war and Red faction Armageddon, but I'm better at finishing games when I play them one at a time. The moment I start juggling, I don't finish any of them. Also, I'm not a fan of save points. Quick saves all the way, so I'm seriously reconsidering Metro and Red Faction for uninstallation.

I'm focusing on shooters in my backlog because they're easier to pick up and story is usually skippable. The moment I pick a game with complex mechanics/controls or convoluted story, it gets harder to pick up again if I stop playing it for a while.

I have that problem now with Mirror's Edge, of all games. Since I didn't play it for several weeks, I pretty much forgot the controls. I thought of replaying the tutorial, but for some reason I couldn't tell how to start it. Do I have to restart the whole game? Oh well...

(<span class="bold">Doona Bae</span> looks quite a lot like the protagonist of Mirror's Edge...)

Etrian Odyssey 4 on the 3DS, Wizardry 6 on the laptop, random things from my sizeable and bloated steam backlog.

Hm. I should just use steamcompletionist.
My boredom with Reckoning has reached a point where I no longer feel I can play it. I might go back to it down the line, not like there's a plot to have to remember.

Started up Risen 2, the next in a line of RPGs I am behind on. It's pretty awesome so far, though the complaint about it being split into smaller islands rather than one big landmass is apparent already. Still... pretty, and with that same Gothic feel.

I'm always playing one RPG and one shooter and my shooter is still Aliens: Colonial Marines right now, which is pretty blah but not the offensive shit-stain some say it is. It's just really boring and bland, not particularly bad. Maybe the console versions are, I dunno. The reviews seemed to complain about a lot of technical issues I am not experiencing. Could be the patches too I guess.
Seeing the <span class="bold">Mirror's Edge 2 trailer</span> roused me to continue playing Mirror's Edge.

I dropped it before out of boredom, and in the meantime I forgot how to play it (the controls). I found the tutorial under the "Play Chapters"... but now the problem was that it was teaching me how to play it with the XBox360 gamepad, not mouse+keyboard like I was playing it before. No idea what "LT" or "RB" is on the keyboard/mouse... I assume it earlier told me the kb/m controls, otherwise I presume it would have been pretty hard to play the tutorial?

I couldn't figure out if some setting had changed in the options, so I said phuck it and switched my Logitech F310 gamepad to X-Input mode, and started learning to play the game with gamepad controls. It feels ok for 90% of the game, except in those rare cases I actually want to shoot. Aiming with a gamepad just sucks compared to mouse, period.

I played the game somewhat with gamepad, but I am still a bit unsure whether I should try to re-learn the kb/m controls, or continue with this setup. Depends how much shooting there is left. Now I find myself trying to avoid direct contact with the enemies all the time, and now I am stuck to a section that I don't have a choice. I have to knock down at least a few of them in order to proceed.

EDIT: Hmm, now it occurred me that maybe it is teaching me the gamepad controls because it senses there is a gamepad connected?!? I'll have to retry by disconnecting it first...

American McGee Presents: Scrapland

An interesting concept, graphics that still look great, but slightly marred by a poor translation from the original Spanish.
So I finally got to World 6 Plus in Mario Vs Donkey Kong (GBA), and I'm pretty much at the point of stopping. Getting all gold stars on every stage is fucking irritating and really hair pulling (gotta be perfect, otherwise you have to start the level over). While some of the levels give a little leg room to mess up, others are incredibly strict to the point where you have to be absolutely perfect (otherwise it's faster to just to restart the level). Can't tell you how many times I've looked at the gameover screen just trying to get the gold stars. I had more fun playing Super Meat Boy, sure that game was hard but at least I can get back into the action very quickly unlike this game.

Maybe I'll go ahead and try System Shock.
Alan Wake - I'm very much enjoying this one. The whole episodic chapter treatment seemed a little weird, but it kinda works. Looking forward to episode 3 tomorrow; done for the night. ;)
Ah yes, Mirror's Edge does indeed assume I'm going to use a gamepad, if one is connected. Stupid, but at least the kb/m controls still work, even though the game still asks me to press "Y" or "RT" or whatever, while I should be pressing right mouse button etc. instead.

Disconnecting the gamepad before running the game caused an odd problem. Certain moves like speed vault and sliding didn't work anymore, it would just try to do a normal jump or crouch if you tried those moves. In Steam forums I read that you must connect the gamepad back, and set all gamepad controls to default. Yep, after that the keyboard controls worked ok and speed vault/slide works again.

And I must say I enjoy the game much more with kb/m controls. The gamepad was pretty good in that the buttons are quite logically placed (like upper left button for anything doing with jumping or going up, and the lower left button for anything to do with crouching etc,), but I just don't like the aiming with it, it is too clumsy with a gamepad.

Also there seemed to be some other problems with gamepad, e.g. in close combat if I want to push the Y button to disarm an enemy, I have to take my thumb away from the right analog stick, meaning I can't turn/aim while using the Y button. With keyboard+mouse, I don't have the same restriction (right mouse button is the "Y").

That's a bit similar problem I had with XBox Halo 2, where I couldn't turn/aim with the right stick whenever I wanted to jump, while with Halo 2 PC (kb+m) there was no problem with that.

Then again, after that I played some Darksiders with the same gamepad, which felt great with it. So it is not like I hate gamepads overall, I just have an issue using them with FPS games (which Mirror's Edge also kinda is, even though there is only little shooting).
