I've reported everything so far, but it keeps coming.

Uh oh.. one spammer popped up in the general homepage.
Couldn't GOG simply ban posts with non-latin characters? : \
No, but probably for the wrong reasons... If they gave higher privileges to help deal with some of the spam bots, it probably would be better... Assuming they wouldn't get abused. I wonder how long before they decide GoG isn't a good place to drop spam...

That would be too restrictive and potentially cut out a lot of legitimate posts. Some people are not too comfortable with English and end up using their own language (sometimes with a machine translation); those people would be caught by your proposal.

How many games are available in Chinese,Korean,Japanese,Turkish on GOG? About 6
How many games are available also in Russian on GOG? About 12 (6 are the same)
How many users aren't going to use english or a translator to ask info about them? I'll guess a statistic: 0,001%
For the time being, in my opinion, banning those languages to block spam doesn't seem that bad..

Except blocking non-unicode languages to control spam is about as effective as closing one of the barn doors to keep the horses in yet leaving the other door wide open. What's stopping spammers from translating their messages with an online translator and spamming again?

They aren't doing it in the first place, even if posting in those languages here is obviously useless.
I doubt that they'll translate the spam messages.

Possibly because they don't need to. If they find they do need to translate their messages into a unicode language for their spam to get through then it will literally take seconds and we're back to where we started. Any action GOG takes to control spam this way will just be wasted effort.

In this case, if I spammed the following message "Check out this website!!! www.somestupidwebsite.com", any internet savvy user would already know what the message was just by looking at the web address, the part before the web address doesn't need to be understood.

Edit: Looking at your avatar reminded me of this quote "Oooohhhhhh, a security checkpoint, looks like I'm foiled, I'd better turn back *evil laugh*. Same principle applies here ;)

Those spammers already have a good reason to translate their message, because they all get immediately identified by the language and then removed.
If they could have used just the www.somestupidwebsite.com they would have done it, but they.. didn't.
Maybe they're not allowed to change the advertisement?

Anyway, I won't insist, but surely the current solutions aren't working very well.

EDIT: lol for the quote (even if I don't recall it now)

wolfsrain: And they are back...
I don't know if it's good or sad that we as users are getting so proficient at hitting that stuff. :P

That son of a bitch was barely here for 5 seconds and without thinking I had hit and reported it which considering I'm half asleep is quite the accomplishment. XD
Well, i see that GOG is secretely training anti-spam special ops, without them even knowing it:P
