Gydion: Seriously? Any fix likely involves actual coding. I for one would like that tested before they bring it live. I hardly need my last 10 threads/replies deleted because I posted twice within a period of 90 seconds. It was the weekend and aside for some support staff everyone was off. An aside, but they need to expand their weekend shifts. It's a bit early to start the lynch mob.
Which is not to say GOG's current response has been remotely acceptable. They should have assigned a lucky few blues to troll the forums and start
banning the offending accounts. This would be far more effective than what the community can do. Yes the spammers would just make new accounts, and whomsoever shift it is would get to ban those ones. This would be very helpful in the short-term. It might even help speed GOG along with a more permanent fix.
I'll be starting the mob next week.
Yes, seriously. Nowhere in the post you quoted did I say that they should have fixed it over the weekend. What I said is that so long as the fora are kept clean (by the community), they have no incentive to make the fix a higher priority. Look at what you proposed as a temp solution. They also have no incentive to do that. Why? Because the community does the work for them, and with persistence and devotion; it doesn't matter that it's not as effective or efficient, it's not on their clock.
And these are the reasons I suggested that the community should perhaps stop dealing with this invasion.
