We would like to inform you that, due to our storage and CDN provider's outage, we are encountering technical issues that may cause difficulties in downloading and updating your games both through the GOG GALAXY client and GOG Store. Already downloaded files are in no way affected.

We are trying to mitigate this external problem by switching to our secondary storage while our provider is restoring data. We would also like to highlight that those issues do not affect purchasing games. Currently available discounts on selected titles will not be extended due to the above.

It is our team's top priority to resolve those issues and we aim to resolve them as fast as possible. Apologies for any inconveniences caused.

Icinix: ..if this were some other digitail distributor - I would hve lost all my games access and not able to logon...and yet here - the only reason I knew about it was because I checked this page.

mrkgnao: That's mostly a myth. I have my entire (relatively small) steam library backed up on an external drive, all 160+ games playable completely offline without the steam client (which I have never installed). It is in much the same situation as my GOG library (except my GOG library is much larger). I also have 1 epic game in the same condition (I don't really use the epic store, but I got one game I was interested in from them).
Come on, you know that's not really a myth. Don't you Crack a lot of your Steam games? I know for a fact most my Steam games would be unplayable if this happened. Because even that .dll or other program will not work on most games.

Trust me, I have more Steam games than you and did a lot of testing.

Icinix: Definitely not a myth - I've lived and work remotely over the last 12 years or so - and Steam fails to authenticate periodically during periods without network (even if set to run offline) and the majority of my library will not run without the client authenticating.
Admitedly the number of games I've bought on Steam over the last coupel of years can be counted on both hands so potentially more games may be on there that don't require the client to be authetnicated but - predate is absoloutely hopeless.
That's because you're using the steam client. I don't, just like I don't use galaxy.

mrkgnao: The "We currently face technical issues" banner is breaking the top-of-the-page menu, moving all tabs up towards the top of the window.
Hey, where are you experiencing this issue? Desktop/mobile, frontpage/checkout, etc.?
avatar
Clownski_: Seems unrelated. Feel free to open a ticket with our Support.
Already did one weeks ago, got the usual "please flush your DNS cache" answer yesterday :)

Desktop. Front Page and Library. Tested on Firefox and Edge before posting, but now it seems ok. Perhaps a temporary glitch. Sorry for the false alarm.

How did you download them in the first place, if you have never installed Steam? Also, unless you buy exclusively DRM-Free games on Steam, many would require Steam to be running.

I use the SteamCmd command-line tool (similar to gogrepoc, but much more dumbed-down) to download and regularly update my games.

I indeed only buy DRM-free (or easily -freeable) on steam, just like I do on GOG.

P.S. For epic, I use the Legendary command-line tool.

Just opened a ticket this morning. Interestingly "Control" was downloadable, but smaller Games like "ICBM" or "Dex" weren't. Now it is working again.
This time, the issue is more widespread and has more visibility.

This still doesn't address the issue where the occasional installer file is in limbo indefinitely until someone notices and has to jump through hoops (especially with your current support system) to access their download:

https://www.gog.com/forum/general/police_stories

Proactively monitor your downloads and fix issues without your userbase having to tell you to. This should either be fully automated (it just runs and fixes itself in the background) or semi-automated (someone runs a script, sees the games that don't download and does what is necessary to fix the problems).

You also have a lot of patches that were in a similar state (well before this incident). I'm not bothering to report those anymore.

Thats the reason I have like 880 games purchased here (my disease lord help me) and ⁵⁴ "there" (I'm there since 2004) and rarely play "their" stuff. Mostly humble bundle keys and some slitherine games which sadly arent here yet — qvadriga and buzz aldrin — *wink wink slitherine*

I trust gog a ton more. Plus im the old start menu games click and play old fart so no brainer!!

BreOl72: I take it this doesn't affect ALL the games? Because I just downloaded the updated file for "Gemini Rue" without any hassle.
It's not every game. I made a list yesterday of some I tested that were affected but there's no real pattern to it. Eg, Thief 1 & 2 are broken but Thief 3 works. Sam & Max Beyond Space & Time (Original) is broken but the other two Sam & Max's work.

I have reported some broken links in January. The ticket was closed in March without anything being fixed, only "forwarded to the appropriate departments". I opened a new ticket with the same requests in May. It too got closed without anything changing.

I am sure these two tickets will be counted as successfully resolved in the 2023 year summary report (just like the 91% resolution rate reported for 2022).

Ah interesting. I knew Steam had a command-line, but I didn't know it had a stand-alone CLI.

It's just for downloading/installing/updating, it doesn't have any other functionality. It was written primarily to automate steam game installation for multiplayer servers.
Well - It sucks, but I am not particularly offended or effected by this. It's one of the reasons I have a local backup of the majority of my games. I do not use the Galaxy client and only "untainted" installer files. I just plug in one my (relatively cheap) 3 to 6 Tb USB drives where I keep all my game installer files, and I am good to go.

It's less great when I buy a game right now, and I have to wait until the problems are solved. I still going to buy this game by the way. I have more than enough games to play, and a little waiting is not the end of the world.

I hope the problems will be solved soon, but as said. One of the great things from GOG are those off-line installers. If something like this happens (and if you, just as me, have the installer files backed up), it's not dramatic in any way.
