Seems like a leak happened and I found out we are getting Unreal Tournament 3 X which is just the original game with all patches updates and is the full version game for free. Seems cool, what do you guys think of it? gonna play it or skip on it?

ZocomMAX: ...the full version game for free.
Free stuff makes me nervous.
Neat, but that doesn't make up for the other UT content that's missing.

Also, where's the 4K raytracing remake of ZZT?
Do not care. Now if Epic Games would sell it for $20 dollars (USD) I will care and develop a new singleplayer Unreal.

Give me Unreal III Epic Games.
I'd rather considered to buy original UT before it get removed. But unfortunately, there is no sale for it. Let see if I pay them full price.
As an UT game, it's good. Played tons of it. Have it in a box so I can even play the original, non-Black (White) version of the game and patch it whenever.

Gameplay is a lot more similar to UT99 than 2003/2004. Perfect showcase of what the Unreal Engine 3 was capable of when it was new. Still looks great even today. I replay the campaign pretty regularly and spent hundreds of hours in custom matches with bots.

Did we need a confirmation? I thought it was already assured that UT3 was coming here for free too, I remember reading that it was going to feature cross compatibility between Epic, Steam and GOG.

Probably one of the reasons why the old Unreal games get delisted?
UT99, UT2003, UT2004 and UT3 all had a vastly different feel and atmosphere to them, and quite fun to play regardless.

Still have the disks for UT3 Black Edition somewhere and it actually featured LAN play if my memory is correct, which I assume Epic will remove it and add a root-kit like Easy AntiCheat, owned by Epic, in return for making it free... If that happens I'm definitely not touching it. That thing is worse than Denuvo.

But if it really is "zero strings attached" then heck yeah I'm going to enjoy it.

Free? So what's the catch?

They're going to strip out LAN support aren't they?

We already have Unreal Tournament GOTY, the purpose of a re-release is to include EOS (quote: "[...] and will provide crossplay between [...]").
If LAN support will be excluded ... who knows?

But since the GOTY is still in our accounts, that should not be a problem. Just play the old version.

Huh? Unreal Tournament 3 is not related to UT-GOTY, it is a completely different game in the series.

I have the original UT3 steelbook release, the game most definitely had LAN support back then. I will be furious if the GOG release doesn't support local play.

Unless they get Re-Elected.
UT series have paid a great price to have a free UT3, indeed
For now all what I see is my Black Edition game got delisted/replaced on Steam and is called X, what? An Epic Games account what? Honestly Epic Games, go to Epic Hell with this forcing nonsense.

Unreal Tournament 3 was already kind of DRM Free on Steam, folks, do you not know? No need for Steam, literally, I could copy the folder and run it alone with Steam deleted. The only tiny issue, perhaps, is the key. but it was solved for 2004 and can be technically solved there too in the same way, so I kept it along with other GOG games and far better (in my view) previous Unreals. I agree with some that just giving the original more than enough, I am truly skeptical of all of these crappy "re-releases" after the Saints Row IV fiasco. Do you want to have this game on GOG forcing you to install Epic Games Launcher too??? I don't want anymore forced nonsense with replacing the original products or anything like that.

GOG must outright disallow, reject and take measures to prohibit publishers/developers from shamelessly landmining games by 3rd party launchers/spyware by default. This is going too far.
