And "the aluminum hats" usually makes the best "blind slaves of society" also, btw.

And this is just amazing - http://weirdrussia.com/2014/08/09/twitter-message-of-the-day-swastika-torch-parade-in-crimea. Of course that means absolutely nothing and all nazis exist only in ukrainian parliament. And west of ukraine, of course.

Yes, choosing of that exact frame for describing the show was truly hilarious. Either there is deep mole inside news agency, or it was actually simply the least compromising frame from the whole show.

Elenarie: I love this. EU, by all means, please introduce more punishment and sanctions for Russia. It would certainly help my country's export system.

If one doesn't see the negatives of such actions, one has to be way stupid. If Russia falls, Eastern Europe falls.
Invading Crimea is ok, sanctions are not ok. Some kind of advanced reasoning.

Sanjuro: Regarding the question, two words: Naval base. We were paying you for the "invasion" for, like, years if not decades.
Russian troops are supposed to be stationed on foreign soil free of charge? Don't give me this bullshit, you don't need to stay there - leave otherwise pay.

Elenarie: Corruption is so high across the board in Eastern Europe, that only fools would associate themselves with political or national organisations / morals / ethics / beliefs / whatever. I would write myself Martian tomorrow if it means that things would get better.

I guess not everybody would agree. We've enough nationalistic zealots as it is.
I understand, and know nothing of corruption in any specific place, only that it seems endemic anywhere humans happen to be.

Since we are all human, I guess I can only wish us all the best, and believe that we can all be ok, if that is what we choose.

Every time that a crisis occurs, man can either rise up together and meet it, or exploit it for their own gains, and it seems to me that most often we choose the latter.

In the unfortunate events that caused the Malaysian airliner to crash, it seems that all civilized nations could have come together, sent in an international team to secure the area, and leave the blame to be determined later, after all members on board were repatriated. International means east, west, north, south, and even Martian if they had nationals aboard.

Edit to add: If the UN is worth its cost, this might be something they might be able to insure, as I would think that every member nation could agree on this.

UN? Worth its cost? You're serious here??

Just hoping to see it do something of use, somehow, somewhere :-)

Last I checked it was the only thing around that kept the superpowers talking to each other and not openly declaring economic, political or armed conflict, so yes, it's worth some of its cost.

Its doing something all the time. Just its drastically non-cost-effective.

people in irak & libya probably wont agree, the truth about uno heavily depends on your gps position

I see the idea as good and well intentioned, but I see their usefulness as next to nothing.

People are good, but politics pollute.

Mandate responsibilities for Security Council members, such as enforcement of recovery operations in the Ukraine, and/or resolution/occupation of that West Bank/Gaza mess and enforcement of borders insuring response to attacks and maybe they'd gain some legitimacy.

I speak for no-one but myself, am sure I'd be attacked by many for these ideas, but see nothing wrong with them.

Enough is enough, nothing getting solved, everyone has problems with terrorism, it's time we wake up and work together to build a world better for our kids than us.

Since when are Irak and Libya super powers? You confuse UN with the League of Nations. The League of Nations was (faultily) designed to maintain world peace. UN was designed to keep the world/super powers in balance in order to prevent a WW3.

Dischord: .
The deal is what they spent lots of years without any actual development of how they can act and enforce their act, in case they'll somehow managed to decide to act. And funny enough they aren't pioneers, League of Nations was there, and ended the same.

no i looked it up again, i meant the united nations organization (uno).
If the UN matters, everyone must have a voice.

Security Council should be to collate these voices, then act through debate, in unison to resolve.

We ought to be able to work together to figure out a course of action, implement ways of achieving that action, then resolve the methodology to implement these actions.

I can understand that all are not trusted by everyone, but there is balance.

If we can work together, the balance will be legitimized.

I have no favorites, so please don't count on my gps location :-)

Edit to add: We all do have friends though, and they represent those who have helped us some way in the past. There is nothing wrong with this, it is normal, and new friends are made every day. I'm not some slop thinker, all flowers and honey, but I know this works from much smaller experience.
