One of the few things I miss about the old titles was being able to play online over titles like Star Wars Battle Grounds, Starcraft, Fur Fighters and Dungeon Siege.

Now-a-days, Studio's have abandoned putting this feature for LIVE SERVICE title's or thinking they'll remain big with no possible way of dying out in the next 1-3 years. Like the developers for the title 'The Day Before' a Zombie shooter survival a TON of people liked when they saw the game trailer, wanted to play it, got it about.... what, 1-3 weeks ago as of this post? and having both it's servers and ability to play it yanked offline without a proper method to play with each other or keeping the value of a game worth it's price tag.

Stepping back to the classics, there are several games I want to try playing online with friends again Such as Arcanum, Revolt, Warcraft 2, etc.

Issue is there are not a lot of software options or services to pursue Lan Tunneling and I've tried configuring my Router for port-forwarding, only to discover that even though it's there on paper or in text; black and white, noone can connect to game's I've setup.

Warcraft 2 still has Battle.Net as does the original Starcraft, However games like Arcanum require the basic TCP/IP Connections and this type of problem is typically resolved via LAN Tunneling.

I use to use Tunngle which was kind of awesome, just setup a room, wait for friends or Rando's to join in, run the game, players put in the Tunngle IP Address with the network adapter you installed and 'Boom,' Multiplayer or Co-Op, no complaints or extra steps.

2018-2019 Europe changes how networking data works/shared/handled and they had to discontinue Tunngle.

I know RadAdmin, Hamchi, Zero Tier are around and Revolt has 'RV House' or rather, it's own proprietary setup to run Online games, especially with the fan made modern executable to run on Windows 7 and advanced; but they aren't all supportive of different titles like Tunngle.

Zero Tier messes up connections on some computer's for Fur Fighters after the die-hard community to it tried so hard to get MP working again and Radmin doesn't have an install to Linux... To my knowledge unless that changed as I haven't been keeping up with it due to the holidays.

Game Ranger sort of 'WORKS' though the support for the library of PC games available in it's ranks is lacking of other titles I want to try and play with my friends like System Shock 2 or Fur Fighter's and Game Ranger only set's up these connections so long as it link's to an executable.

Does anyone know of any better alternatives?
Do you think GOG will setup a Lan Tunneling Service for the older Library to play these games still online over an internet connection?... Ok, that last one was wishful thinking, but I would like to hear some alternatives if anyone haas any.
Some alternatives, ey?

Almost as if there's a website fulla' em.
It's not as if there aren't plenty of L2 VPN solutions... corporations use them all the time.

If only gamers took a moment to learn the basics of networking and then set up their own server.

I did, it costs serious $$$$$.

You can literally set up a VPN for free. It might take reading a manual or two, but the *Swan family of VPNs are completely open source. There is also the obviously named OpenVPN, Wireguard, OpenConnect, sshuttle, badvpn*, and buttloads more.
Hamachi is still good enough in most cases. Or you could setup your own hassle free (for remote peers) alternative in case games support direct IP multiplayer.

No. In the "best" case scenario, they'll pull off a Dawn of War and replace LAN with Galaxy-based multiplayer... so I'd rather they didn't bother.

Bet you guys are gonna love this since it "exploits" steam, sure the author can make one that uses GOG as well.

https://github.com/gyf304/partylan

It used to use Discord but since Discord canned their gaming API the dev had to switch gears.

it is the easiest way ever to LAN Tunnel with friends, remember those so easy even a caveman could do it commercials?

In the author Gihub there's ideas section for the PartyLan app your talking about. I gave him the idea of an implementation with GOG. You could try and upvote it if you want, maybe we'll get something out of this.

*Update*
The author of the app posted this:
"Steam rejected PartyLAN to be listed on the Steam store. I'm currently evaluating the migration plan off Steam."
