Yes, Steam is evil, it has DRM. It also has this game and GOG does not.

Good game grab it while you can.
Have this obsession with buying all the dlc. Have to resist the attila and US revolution total war games, they're on discount, but I got to get past the tutorials and play a solid game of rome II or Shogun II before I spend any more money on this damned franchise...

Just try to not collect everything, companies know about this habit very well and they use it against you.
Imho only buy DLC if you have played out the game and still want to play it with some new things.

It's a fun game, especially with mods. If only the TW franchise wasn't so weak on the campaign side.

I feel a bit the same, the grand strategy side isn't as good as dedicated grand strategy games. The tactical battles are great to begin with when the battles are small scale, but when they get bigger everything just always ends up like a giant mosh pit in the middle of the map. Still the last one I played was Napoleon, so I'm looking forward to seeing how the series has come along since.

I agree the map part is weak even if I like to improve my territories and kingdom as a whole. EU4 is way better at that.

I agree, I think there is no reason to buy them before playing the game for some time at least. It's kind of stupid that there is a DLC for blood and gore (which some find somewhat excessive), and that without it there is no blood at all (but that's also true for the older games, and they don't even had blood dlcs). It's also the only dlc not on sale right now, and like most Total War games and DLCs, it became more expensive a while back. I don't have it, so I don't know if it's worth the price.

i hope you can hold your urges,
been playing this series since it came out with the first shogun under the banner of EA and all of their titles work without any of their dlc liek they should
most of the dlc's don't add anything other to the main game then new factions or a new type of campaign.
this is not such as Stellaris or other games that change a lot with the addition of the DLC's
Yeah, bought battlebrothers on steam. Didn't get into it in a real way, little time even without a job since feb. But I got this urge to buy the game on gog.com with all the dlc, though I got it all in steam.

Friend gifted me civ 5 on steam, so I bought all the dlc. I haven't finished a game of civ 4 colonization yet, or that alpha centauri remake but I got those games and all dlc...

Finding it hard just to watch a movie, 21st century seems to be a life of indexing things you want to do rather than doing stuff....

with civ it is almost mandatory to get all of their dlc though without the game, V for example or Beyond Earth, dlc the games are entertaining but expand into so much more with.... Most of the times their DLC releases go accompanied with many gamereviews stating just that! I belief in Beyond Earth's case the game finally became enjoyable for many players and with V i spend most of my hours with all the dlc enabled.

stellaris is another one of those games, last week i finally came around and added that war and peace dlc and now for the first time i'm actually enjoying myself again ( outside the first explorer hours i had with the game ) huge money and timesinks not to mention the fact that you will like a high tier multicore cpu enough ram and in total war's case a decent gpu

The total war games i own are all complete outside 3k because i still need to get into that one, even withheld from buying the blood and gore dlc since it came out so ugly in warhammer
oh and i did not buy the pirate faction dlc for Rome II.... it could be considered expensive but with most of their games i easily transgress the 500h playing time line so all in all 200 dollars spent on 1000 hours of playing time is not really expensive all in all

Creative Assembly was notoriously stingy when it came to patching, until the god-awful Rome II released. lol

I doubt they even try to make their games balanced, because they can barely manage to release a game that functions properly. But some people love them, so go figure.
The Total War Warhammer series is probably the best Fantasy Strategy of all time. Its epic on many levels.

and their forces are rising, 3k had a lot of sales compared to their other titles, over a million copies sold in launch week, now maybe this was also because of our chinese friends and other 3k lovers since their numbers dwindled fast.. i belief warhammer 2 holds 10k more players ( at 20k ) at a monthly average then 3k does atm
