I hope it is! ^_^
I doubt this is related (most likely to the Ys series), but GOG did tweet this back when Trails Sky was released: https://twitter.com/GOGcom/status/494154485099671554

We probably would be seeing GOG tweets hyping a FF release by now, but I still figured I'd point to that. :)

My money is still on Crystal Caves (nice platformer it seems, 200+ votes) but C&C or FF would certainly be more welcome by me. :)

...Is it too late to guess Mark of the Ninja? [Haha]
Ok, I'm gonna be an idiot and ask: what's the deal between Mark of the Ninja and the crystals shown as hint? o.O

I couldn't find one either, I assume Judas would have posted today if it had been. :-P

Yea, it for the thursday (classical?) release.

SCPM: Of course, my all time favorite Apogee platformer will always be Bio Menace. :)

tfishell: That or Alien Carnage I will continue to ask GOG about until either one appears. (Preferably Bio Menace)

I would love to see GOG copies of either of these games, and the next time GOG.com needs freebies to add, these would do well. (It would make little sense to charge for them since they can be obtained for free from the copyright holder's site. 3DRealms owns most of the Apogee titles including these, so this is pure generosity ware and NOT abandonware. Seriously, there are quite a few goodies available on 3DRealms' site)

On that note, I encourage anyone to buy whatever Apogee or 3DRealms games you can here to support them for their generosity. Once you have bought some of their goodies, enjoy your free AC and BM from 3DRealms.

Let's see.....
Does Square-Enix release through GOG.com? CHECK!
Were there any FFs for PCs? CHECK!
FF7, FF8, FFXI (online w/ subscription fee so virtually impossible here), and FFXIV (like XI so also virtually impossible)
So while a Final Fantasy release may not be likely, it is well within the realm of possibility. Although an YS game would certainly be welcome here.

Yeah charging for them would be, honestly, stupid and bad for business, but I'm hoping GOG throws us "good old game" fans and those of us that like to see GOG "preserve" games another free bone sooner than later, perhaps even a few to celebrate the launch of Galaxy. ("GOG is entering a new age, but we still celebrate the past and to show you this we're providing new 'freebies' ...")

011284mm: I think EA has access to them now, so there is a real chance there.

tfishell: I'd keeps my hopes low as EA seems rather content to let the games stay on Origin. However, maybe SimCity 4's sales encouraged EA to allow a few more games to appear here.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Command_%26_Conquer:_Tiberian_series - "Command & Conquer (1995): The genesis of the Tiberian series as well as the C&C franchise in its entirety. The original Command & Conquer game is called Tiberian Dawn in several readme files and FAQs for Westwood Studios' subsequent C&C games." Since tiberian is involved in the first game, perhaps that game is coming.

But I'm still leaning most towards Crystal Caves.
Funny thing about the early C&C games is that they were made freeware at one point for to celebrate the anniversary and / or release of one of the newer C&Cs at one point, but it now seems unclear as to whether EA intended to only make them freeware for a limited time or permanently - EA no longer hosts freeware downloads of them but other, otherwise legit sites do, not sure if that's just an oversight though...

Either way, maybe EA thinks that someone as high profile as GOG hosting the early ones for free would hurt sales of the packs they sell but GOG doesn't want to just sell the packs as it seems a bit of a con

I say this a lot but see also:

Well, from my point at least, GOG would benefit at least from having those games here in some fashion; so many thousands of wishlist votes suggests to me sales would be quite good - http://www.gog.com/wishlist/games#order=votes_total&search=command - or even if the first C&C game appears here are freeware, it could bring in new customers.

Wikipedia says that Command & Conquer (1995) and Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun (1999) are the two freeware games. So maybe, since the 1995 game + addons are DOS and presumably compatible with DOSBox, they could appear here as freebies.

Then maybe Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun + Firestorm expansion + Renegade could come here bundled for $9.99. (You'd be paying for Renegade, compatibility with modern machines, and *maybe* the soundtracks?)

Just theorizing, of course.

----------------------------------------

Now, http://www.gog.com/forum/z/z_steel_soldiers/post2 does say Z: Steel Soldiers is probably coming to GOG this week. (I'm not sure how I'd feel about a 12.99 price tag, though.) Do blue crystals fit with that hint? (I know the color blue fits, but I'd assume crystals were specifically used.) Maybe we're getting both Crystal Caves and Z:SS!

Tiberian Sun/Firestorm doesn't really make much sense to bundle alongside Renegade (different genres) and a $9.99 price just for it would be too much, at least in my opinion. At any rate, even if the games come here, there is no guarantee that EA would want to play nice and just make the games free. After all, Ultima IV is free here, but costs 5 bucks on Origin.

I'm pretty sure the original Red Alert (and expansions?) is free too, actually, IGN seems to think so at least...

It was free from EA's site for a while (they offered bare ISOs of the original discs, no special treatment for modern systems), and several (high-profile) sites copied the files to make them available from multiple sources. EA have since redesigned the site and removed the links (I can't say whether the files themselves are gone), but many copies elsewhere are still available.
