Shouldn't you be able to retrieve your orders via your e-mail account? (Unless, of course, you delete your order e-mails for some reason.)

Of course you can. But if you have more than a small amount of orders, that is not really efficient and way more time consuming than having a working order history or a list ;-)

I think Tyrrhia meant it as a way for skeletonbow to compile the order history list in the first place. :)


PS: I also keep a spreadsheet with my games purchases, along with a sliding window of weekly and monthly expenses. The all-time peaks suspiciously coincide with seasonal or Insomnia GOG sales... :P

What @muntdefems said. Sure, it's not efficient compared to having the order history working, but right now, it's better than nothing. And if it's already been two months, I think it's worth the effort, especially since it shouldn't take that long and we have no idea when the bug will be fixed. :P

They do not contain all of the same level of detail, plus I can't be absolutely certain that I have archived them all. The point of the GOG orders history is that it is supposed to be a complete canonical history, that's why I want to access it. If doing it solely via email was sufficient they wouldn't even need to have it on the website. It's there because it serves a purpose, one that I need in order to make my local records complete.


In addition to archiving the order history local in a spreadsheet, another thing I'm doing with the data is figuring out exactly what I paid for each game over time in the currency it was paid in (USD or CAD), what the game's full retail price was at the time if it wasn't on sale, what the actual amount charged to my credit card was in CAD, and getting a running total of the total cost of the games over time at the time of purchase in USD regular price, CAD regular price with exchange rate based on my card purchases, USD sale price and CAD sale price, also factoring in the costs of GOG freebie promos, gifts and giveaways and other promotions. I'd like to see what the actual total cost of my library is in USD and CAD in terms of money spent and total value both at the time of purchase as well as current day prices depreciated. Also total value of free games acquired over time would be interesting to see out of curiosity as well.

I've got the spreadsheet all set up for this and a fair amount of the data put in but it's a lot of work to go through around 7 years worth of data even with the GOG order history working. The emails do not contain all of the information I require and are not in one spot nor complete as well as being a nightmare to try to organize and sift through.

I'm not looking for a fallback plan, I'm looking for GOG to fix the broken part of the website. Until they do, my project will have to remain on hold indefinitely more or less.

Once it is working, it might even be possible to write a program to automatically import all of the data and generate all of the described results above, which would be cool.

You don't want to know that. I did that calculation recently. And yeah, if you have been here for some time, trust me, you don't want to know the actual value ;-)
