paladin181: According to the courts, they have the right temporarily until the whole case is decided. If that's true, Frogwares is putting their foot in it, since any sales made while things are in question would be awarded to Frogwares as damages if they win. But pulling this stunt could damage their case because they are not complying with a court decision. However the whole case is very muddy with contradicting stories as to the official court rulings.
This is what worries me the most. Nacon is quite big company, they acquired several studios in a row, they should have money and legal advisors, why in the hell would they risk their money and reputation by putting illegal version of a game to Steam? What about Origin store and consoles, why it was not removed there? Unless they are absolutely crazy and for some reason recognize Sinking City as the absolute gem of the world best games I could hardly understand their motives. The only logical explanation I have is that their legal agreement with Frogwares have some favorable for them loopholes, meaning that even without the source code they could have all the other rights for the game. paladin181: This is the 3rd publisher Frogwares has had a virtually identical problem with, and at that point, one has to wonder if they are the shady ones trying to extort things from their publishers. Once, it's a bad day. Twice, and you say, ok. Really bad run of luck. Thrice, and it's a pattern.
I hope whoever is right wins.
And who is the third company? I remember they have problems with Focus Home over IP rights for Sherlock games which were resolved, that's one. And soon after they switched the publisher to Bigben Interactive, now Nacon, they get into this Sinking City mess, that's two. I hope whoever is right wins.
I wonder if there is a pattern that French publishers are so *evil* who knows. There was a scandal with Focus Home over Aeon Must Die game from Limestone Games, always there was something about Ubisoft abusive behavior towards their workers mainly women, can't say anything about other game studios though. This is of course seems unlikely but could it be that big companies treat small studios and people badly just because they can, time will tell.
On paper, yes. However I don't believe in court system even in developed countries like France or the US. I would like to wait for a final decision no matter what.
