Vainamoinen: The only reason kukuruyo's possibly ambitious, but still deeply mediocre work was even in the vicinity of these awards is due to puppy slate violation of the Hugo's democratic processes. There are several puppy lists again this year - thankfully diluting their influence. Kukuroyo is e.g. on Vox Day's list.
I'd rather get pissed in the face than be nominated this way.
Kukuroyo was chosen to be shoehorned in
because of his gamergate affiliation; this is the only actual political move at work here (huge overlap between puppies and gamergate is well established – they're fighting the very same battle after all).
I don't wish to belittle the efforts of any artist, really, and I can not condone any personal attacks for whatever reason, but please do compare kukuryo's work to his co-nominees, and you will find that he has never had a place among them. Not in his wildest wet dreams.
He objectively doesn't deserve a place between e.g. "Darkcloud" Christian Quinot or Dennis "disse86". These are artists on a professional level. These are artists who, to begin with, have an understanding of line well beyond kukuruyo's Paint Tool Sai dependency, an understanding of anatomy well beyond How to draw Manga Vol. 1, an understanding of color and light well beyond Paint's Fill with Color.
It's a sick political joke of a nomination, and that's where the backlash comes from – as detestable as its execution may be.
So, you're against diversity now? if you insert [minority race] or [any gender other than "male"] instead of "Gamergate" you sound like a "strawgater" (what AGG think of when they think of a "Gamergater" IMHO)
