It was changed because one particular retard said he didn't feel the original pose matched her character. Of course, the catch being that it was his his interpretation of what her character was, and not the artists'. They still removed because he will let her pre-teen daughter play this online game and it would turn her into a patriarchy worshiping prostitute is she saw that pose.
He isn't very smart either seeing he's not OK with showing his daughter videogame ass but is OK with showing her videogame violence in a role model character. Either way, he felt it needed to be changed, and since feelings are fact for these people, Blizzard did. Only problem being the new one looks exactly like a pinup model pose.

I would bet they might have done it intentionally when they realized their core audience was all OK with Tracer's butt. Maybe the fact that she looks like a pinup girl was intentional, but I did not want to spoil the fun in the post I put the link in.

See, I'm usually not interested in Blizzard games or even multiplayer shooters, but oh my god, Overwatch has such an incredibly fun design team behind it. How could anybody not fall in love? If every character wore androgynous military armor this game would only look like Destiny again.

The issue I have with this is

1) How would GOG know for certain that the "reviewer" doesn't have a copy, sure they may or may not have obtained here. there's other places where it's available.

2) the act of having this review "embargo" that you're suggesting IMHO would almost certainly be seen as being a very shady action that could cost GOG dearly.

I say this as one who has not acquired, played nor reviewed the expansion.

So you're saying you know objectively what the character of Tracer is and what she ''about'' and she's not definitely not about having the traits of a ''sex symbol''. What gives you the right to define what a character is about? What makes you think your interpretation of this is the true one and everyone else's is not? Is it obvious? And what about this sex symbol thing? What the fuck kind of progressive uses such an un-nuanced term used by puritans to describe ''harmful'' characters? Tracer's character, nor what is and is not a sex symbol is not for you to decide for others or claim as the objective truth.

And please, what is this? Character themes are this dumb? This is like pre-school kids saying the theme of a movie is ''struggle'' or ''love'' or whatever. You yourself claim complete subjectivity in game analysis yet you're pushing your own interpretation of the character as the only one that should be catered to.

So the removal of that is ample evidence you say that the developers are in full turmoil as to decide what is and is not fit to be included? Since you are such a good mind reader, then why did these confused developers respond to that post only with specific address to the points the poster made?

Its an article alright. But its always good to tag it as an opinion piece so you don't get as much flak when your ''article'' is blown full of holes. Such journofluid, much wow. Its a strawman article that focuses on the hate of people towards that particular character and argues lore-wise points against why that character is not bad writing. The article does not address the fact that a whole character's personality was changed, and several conversation replies from NPCs that people could have considered to be ''SJW''-ey. Or the fucking fact that MP doesn't work, its full of bugs and the interface looks like that of a smartphone game.

The second makes sense the first doesn't. Why would you actually try to Transfer to the sex you want to be, never really getting there, while you could just get some spell on you and become a fully functional being of the other sex ?

I bought the ed Editions but if they changed the scripts it might be time to look for a refund, after all the old editions work fine.

They legally can't change most of the old dialogue I think. But in the expansion there are some instances, but you'll have to ask someone who's played it through. AFAIK they aren't too frequent. Ask on the game forum here or on Steam, or ask a friend to watch a few lets plays for you and sample how frequently it happens from that friend.

Boycotting Gamasutra because it hosted an article you don't like is like boycotting TED because someone gave a speech you don't like. It's completely illogical and counter productive. The idea of the site is to get opinion pieces from a wide range of people from the game industry or at least educated about it to comment on a wide range of subjects. Obviously that will involve stuff you don't like.

But if you want to lock yourself up in a bubble/safe space, go ahead and boycott any site that contains stuff you disagree with.

That is, right from beginning to end, the nazi concept of the "Underling" or "Untermensch", whatever political direction those who use the term may follow. So I can say that the concept is nazist, not the people who use it. Lots of articles written and posted and not even checked for accuracy. That's a failing on the site itself and how little journalists can or will be trusted. Their job is based on trust.
