Jennifer: I can't even tell if they're intentionally lying about supporting women or if they're so deluded that they really don't see the obvious contradiction here :S
When supporting any sort of cause, there's the temptation to have the biggest impact you can, to make the most efficient moves, to achieve victory in as decisive and quick way as possible... The only price one needs to pay is to go... full utilitarian (never go full utilitarian!). More precisely - to be able to pay any price, to be willing to go to any lengths, to use all possible means. If you believe that your cause is just and victory's value is infinite... any costs are justifiable, aren't they? After all - you're working for the greater good. The evil you inflict is, every time, necessary evil...
This is an EXTREMELY dangerous trap to fall into, no matter how STUPID and HEARTLESS it may sound every step of the way. If you are *really* adamant about supporting something, you WILL be tempted to take shortcuts. It takes enormous restraint not to lose oneself even a bit in the fervor. This is something we all need to keep in mind; as part of #gamergate, but also every step of the way in life.

It reminds me of some of the extreme religious right in the US. The ones that protest outside abortion clinics because killing a child is wrong, but then support blowing up the clinics or killing the abortion workers. I guess the commandment reads "Thou Shalt Not Kill Unless You Have a Good Reason".

As the good Lord said, "Love thy neighbour as thyself. Unless he's Turkish in which case, kill the bastard!"

That's really good advice :)

I heard someone explain it once. In the original language it says not to "murder" rather than not to "kill" and murder is defined as unjustified killing, so it's not necessarily forbidden to kill (like self-defense).

The people who act like you described also tend to be the people who take the Bible extremely literally and will hinge an entire movement on the definition of a single word (to the extent of researching it in the original language and how it was used at the time), so they probably don't see any contradiction (in their minds it isn't murder but rather defense of babies so it doesn't violate the commandment).

So yeah, that's my best attempt to explain it. I still think it's hypocritical though.

(A few days old) #gamergate's modest list of demands.

All pretty reasonable, although I would've liked if they added official investigations against IGF/Indiecade.

I would have preffered if it also demanded assholes like ben kuchera to retire from gaming journalism, but I guess that would've been counterproductive to the movement, but I still hope him and his clique will be weeded out or at least confined to a single website when this is over.

Eh, a little too friendly and long winded, IMO. 'Leave gamers the hell alone' would have sufficed.

Here is an audio interview with Adam Baldwin, Internetaristocrat and "Based Mom" feminist scholar Christina Hoff Sommers. She has some good points.

Give it a listen. ;-)

I don't know how long is the "refund delay" of credit cards companies but I think it's something like six months after the initial purchase. The kickstarter was funded one year ago (2 october 2013).

If it's technically possible, I'm wondering why all the dissapointed kickstarter backers don't try this kind of refund when projects go south (scams or games like Clang/ Spacebase DF-9 recently)???

Edit : btw, I saw some recenet gameplay videos and felt the game was average as it's more inspired by the latest megaman and not the megaman from the NES era :(

Is it really that bad?

OdanUrr: Is it really that bad?
From the screengrabs that I have seen, this Dina has taken her company hostage in her anti-Gamergate crusade. Let's hope that it becomes a shining example to other game developers, that you don't skimp on professional employees, just to save a lousy buck.

I figured you guys would be interested in seeing someone actually do a fair look at the whole thing.

As far as Mighty No. 9...I'm torn. I believe in what Inafune is making and what he wants to create. On the other hand I acknowledge a gap between language and maybe culture that is allowing a Community manager to take control and push her own political bias onto things. The whole damn thing is a mess and seeing how it's happening really depresses me.

Lone3wolf: I'm sorry? People are citing Breitbrat's reich-whinge propaganda webshite for this??

You know those "alternative medicines" sites that tell you to buy their homoeopathic "cures" that anyone with an IQ above room temperature tells you that if you cite them as a source you're Not Even Wrong ?

Well, for truthful and honest reporting of news, Breitbrats is just so: Not Even Wrong

Rational wiki is quite irrational on some it's subjects.
Ironically the gamergate article on encyclopediadramatica is sensible.
