Usually these accusations by GamerGate are countered with personality-attacks like "oh, your just hate women". That's BS, the reality is that GamerGate has been boiling up for years, it's just that the Quinn incident was the straw that broke the camel's back.
This prompted people to start doing their own research, and the result is that the game journalists are only the tip of the iceberg. The people pulling the strings in reality are rich individuals and academic organisations such as DIGRA or private organisations such as Silverstring Media. Here is a video of a presentation given to a group of game journalists urging them to give up neutrality. Watch it to the end:
