Jonesy89: There are no fucking words. Luckily nobody got shot, although I wouldn't rule that out for any future SWATings.
That's actually a thing that was popular before gamergate (and aftwerwards used against gg supporters too), apparently some kids think its really funny to swat people while they streamed that's how it started.

I remember hearing about that being done to some poor bastard doing a game stream a while ago, but I had hoped that that was an isolated incident; surely, noone else would be stupid enough to do something that might result in the police shooting someone, I though. But no, apparently not.
Thank goodness there are some sane feminists out there:

Thank goodness Intel's got their sanity back. And they're more than making up for their Polygon fuckup here.

They're investing 300M$ in diversity, including support for feminist frequency. And that's that.

lolwut? First time I've seen Intel throwing money at greed. If they invested a quarter of that into a project they crated to do the same, I bet it'd be 10X better. Hasn't the world realized that the shortage of money isn't the big problem but the strange ways in which it ends up in the hands of people who worsen the problem?

And consider this: will Anita ever want this ''problem'' to go away? She's raking inn the $$$ only because she has something to hate on. If what she calls misogyny in games reduces, she'll only have less to hate about. I can bet she won't use any of the money to solve the problem considering she'll be losing years of $$$ and attention if the ''problem'' is fixed.

Yup.

Not being one to harass, and diversity is a good thing but I don't think it's good for Intel to invest in hatemongers such as Anita

Listen. In its entirety.
https://www.idlethumbs.net/idlethumbs/episodes/the-classic-alien-form

Then, for comparison, take a look at the media the real "hatemongers" are producing, people like Owen, Aurini, Baldwin, Vavra, Bain, Mason, Summers and Yannopoulos, only one of whom occasionally actually talks about video games.

The hate comes and always came from a totally exaggerated, aggressive response to what is only just a small video series about feminist perspectives on certain aspects of games, many of which Sarkeesian loves and plays (inb4 protest, proof's in the podcast).

But all that is crystal clear, and has been from minute one in 2012, when the totally absurd harrassment and despicable clamor of thousands of de facto misogynist gamers made Tropes vs. Women far more successful than it would otherwise have been.
Fuck diversity! Diversity by itself does nothing, it's neither good nor bad. Saying diversity is good is like saying the colour blue is good. Sometimes it is, you want to sky to be blue, but sometimes it isn't, you don't want to eat blue bananas.

Here is what we really need: competence. Everyone should strife for doing their best, and if that goal is achieved by a homogenous group, then so be it. If it is achieved by a heterogenous group, then so be it as well. Putting diversity before competence is a sure way to destruction because you put incompetent people in charge.

So fuck pushing women into technology. The women who are competent don't need this crap, they can prove themselves just fine. And fuck Intel.

For the record, it doesn't read to me as though Intel is giving Feminist Frequency anything. They are listed as partners in the endeavor. That may be disturbing to some as this means Anita will have some say in where the money goes, but lets keep the facts straight.
i think a smart move for the feminists would be to drop anita or at least her arguments and replace them with someone actually informed

i recently heard some of her arguments and honestly i think its a pretty good example of the dutch saying "wie een hond wil slaan vind allicht een stok" (if you want to hit a dog, you'll certainly find a stick).

yes the damsel in distress is overused but to say saving a woman is pure undiluted misogyny?
and many of her other arguments are just complete and utter bullsh*t

YES there is a lot to be improved about the position of women in video games, but to just make up ridiculous uninformed and false arguments will only down your own credibility

(fyi, not all males want to oppress and r*pe and abuse women)
(fyi2 its not because you can ALSO attack women the game promotes violence against women if you can also attack males)

You could at least make an effort, yes please.

I don't think you can generalize these 'other arguments' if your prime and only example is an absolute doozy of a straw man already.

Yawn. Who said I'm a man anyway?

Nope, she expressly doesn't sell the solution. Which irritates a lot of people who would love to see oppression and conspiracy where none exists, and who are purposefully unfamiliar with the basic mechanics of detail critique.

Oh wait... you're serious?
Pro-diversity? I'm ok with that. Financially supporting someone with outspoken sexist views? Not really ok with that.

You mean Sommers? As in Christina Hoff Sommers, the feminist who has been fighting for women's rights since the 70's? Or someone else?
