So South Korea and Taiwan value the lives of their people, and most of the Western nations, not so much. o.O
I think it's a bit more to do with they realized that they'd be in for trouble if their people rebelled over shit governance during/before/after a shtf scenario, and also that they couldn't "rule" over an empty nation.

Yup.
They toe the line and push the advice/"advice" of the powers that be, and admonish those who don't follow such, then do whatever they want(especially if they're rich).
Also dismissing ER doctors during a pandemic over disagreements with management.....if true that hospital doesn't seem too bright(especially with some places RECALLING retired doctors and such to help out due to shortages).
