My stocks are worthless now.. but at least gasoline is getting ever cheaper. I see survival in a Mad Max apocalypse being entirely possible by now.

kai2: I think this interview is worth watching:

Interview with Professor Kim Woo-joo from Korea University Guro Hospital

So the ability to rapidly and efficiently test helps prevent giving urgent/critical care to those who don't need it, and maintaining proper emergency preparedness, such as stockpiling masks and disinfectant, saves countless lives.

So South Korea and Taiwan value the lives of their people, and most of the Western nations, not so much. o.O

Sorry about that. That's the actual name of the book. With that title, it's a real mess trying to recommend it to others.

GameRager: Thanks for that...will watch it later(going to store for needed things).

That said, some pics for all below:

One is about a doctor supposedly fired for criticizing his hospital's handling of COVID, and the other is a supposed "shame piece" on people wanting to flee/fleeing NYC before/as a result of the total lockdown there.

(Pics are from chan sites[albeit sfw] so take them with that in mind)
Ah yes, the old "do as we say, not as we do!" appeal. o.O
I was watching YouTube and came across a picture of NYC and I can hardly believe that NYC looks like a freaking ghost town. To parody quote Christopher Walken this COVID-19 Virus is Un-Fucking-Believable.

My sister is disabled (lupus) and moved to Ecuador some years ago to live much better on her disability check. She just called me and told me her Ecuadorian doctor told her she won't get her lupus medicine, pain medicine and steroids next month because they don't have any and all shipments are banned. She's freaking out. Crazy!

I think it's a bit more to do with they realized that they'd be in for trouble if their people rebelled over shit governance during/before/after a shtf scenario, and also that they couldn't "rule" over an empty nation.

Yup.

They toe the line and push the advice/"advice" of the powers that be, and admonish those who don't follow such, then do whatever they want(especially if they're rich).

Also dismissing ER doctors during a pandemic over disagreements with management.....if true that hospital doesn't seem too bright(especially with some places RECALLING retired doctors and such to help out due to shortages).

That is really bad. Hope countries will learn from this and stop putting every critical production into the other side of the globe. Globalism is failing.

Damn :( :\

Is she still a US citizen(in whole or part)? If so can't she petition someone to get her meds shipped in or to come back to the US for a bit?

The West has no discipline, and this is nothing new.

They've grounded all flights apparently, but the U.S. embassy told her they could get her out on a military plane Monday. She's debating whether to do it or not... her main lupus med isn't available here either, she'd have to leave her dogs and she would have no way to get back. Ecuador won't let anyone in until "Covid 19 has been cured." I assume they mean a vaccine is developed, since we can't cure viruses.

Well over here we have "better" care(afaik), and maybe the drug will get more stock in soon.....or she could stay there as the hospitals might not get hit as badly there(due to not being hit as bad as some places) and might be able to treat her quicker if need be.

A sad state of affairs, tbh. :\

As for curing it: Supposedly(haven't verified yet, so anyone reading this take it with a grain or two of sodium chloride) it has several hundred strains atm.....that might not be possible if that's the case.....well unless they did the "standard flu season route" and made one against the most widespread strains, maybe.

Lastly, fwiw you and your family are also in my prayers.

I can't believe that's true about the "several hundred strains", from what I've read coronaviruses in general are fairly stable, and this particular one hasn't mutated much so far (though of course it might, if it spreads through billions of humans).
But yeah, pretty bad situation all around. I hope things turn out ok for Stinging Velvet's sister, hard to know what's the best decision in such a situation.

I don't believe it too much either, but it is likely going to take awhile to get a vaccine made/tested, and during that time anything(almost) could happen.

Gods, give me strength.

This reminds me of what WHOPPR said near the end of Wargames(film).....no matter what we choose, people will likely keep getting sick and/or dying(for a certain amount of time). :\
