misteryo: Question: How exactly is TW3 being gifted? Has the restriction on gifting this title been lifted?
That is a good question...

moonshineshadow: First... no exceptions. That is just asking for trouble. Pandora's box. Not gonna happen.

Second, I need to get back to work, handing out games needs to wait until the evening ;-)

If you are in the US you can't buy it as a gift, but some European countries can gift it and I also believe the United Kingdom can gift it.
I didn't even know the Witcher 3 was giftable again.

I'd be super happy if I would be considered as worthy of this gift since I'm a big Witcher fan (Who would have guessed?) and my current finances simply don't allow for buying it for myself. :-(

Though I do agree mrkgnao would be far more worthy of it than me because of his constant invaluable work for all of us!

AFAIK, TW3 is ungiftable worldwide. TW3+ExpansionPass is giftable in UK, ungiftable everywhere else. My guess is that this code has been purchased a while ago, before the restrictions were put in place.

P.S. MaGog checks ungiftable status once a week, on Sunday.

What about purchases from Humble Bundle? They come with a GOG code, and I assume there's no way of telling if the one who purchased it on Humble Bundle is the same person redeeming it on GOG. Or perhaps it's an nVidia promo code.

Whatever the case, I'm confident that our host has checked the validity and legitimacy of the gift code before putting the game on the list.

During the secret Santa a gog gift code for TW3 was given. Will not say who gave it or received it, but I verified the key.

Interesting. Do you know where that Santa lives (I assume not in the North Pole)?
Well, what a gift! W3 needs a Linux build already! :)

Interesting. Was that a regular code (i.e. purchased here), and was it purchased after the gifting restriction went live? If yes, then perhaps GOG makes exceptions if contacted, depending on who's asking.

It was purchased here in December, I don't know if an exception was made (but I don't think it was)

Ah, you're just asking to be asked - how do you know when the code was purchased, and what makes you think it was not an exception? And when you say you verified the code, how did you do it?

Because I checked all the codes before I sent them, I just did not redeem any of them. I don't want to elaborate on anything specific about the person who gifted the game, but I assure you it was bought in December without an exception being made (they told me this specifically moments ago).

The code was originally an nvidia code and the member who donated it had it transformed to a regular giftcode by Firek.

I don't want to know anything about the person that gifted the game. I'm just curious how it's possible to purchase TW3 as a gift in December 2015, and it not being an exception. The only possible way I can see is for a person from the UK to already have TW3, purchase TW3+Expansion Pass as a gift, redeem the Expansion Pass themselves, and gift the game to someone else.

Anyway, I don't want to derail the thread any longer. As I said, I don't want you to reveal anything about this specific case and the involved parties.
