Wow! You are insane :)))

Thanks to your guides Adam, I am using linux now. I started using linux on virtualbox as VM. But I was not satisfied since it didnt run properly. Then I took a leap of faith and installed Linux Mint 18 x64 alongside Windows while upgrading my system from Vista to 7. It is insanely easy and works 10 times better and faster than on VM. Play-on-linux is a god-send. It helps you to install any version of wine and use it anyway you like.

At the moment I installed Mint 18 to 10 of my friend's laptops. They hated it at first but they got used to eat after a few weeks. All dual boot like I am. Best thing about Mint 18 is that it comes with almost everything installed. Java, Flash, Office, media codecs.

I couldnt figure out how to update drivers tho. When I open driver manager it only shows my Video card. I couldnt find a way to see and change my other drivers like sound or wireless Ethernet card. It works almost flawlessly so far with the exception of seeing my home wireless as invisible. It didnt show in the list and I had to enter the information (name, security etc) manually and then it worked. Also, update manager is 10 times better than windows 7. It is often problem with windows systems to take long hours for it to find the proper updates and usually uses high CPU and Memory until it does which slows down your system. No such problem with linux.

One more advantage of linux is its low system usage. That leaves a lot more RAM and CPU for programs and so far games run slightly faster. I am still a novice when it comes to linux but so far i liked it.

It is true that open office or libre office still cant replace MS Office for academic reasons. They are very powerful on their own but my files that I work with MS Office do not open correctly. This wouldnt be a problem if everyone was using Linux but that is not the case.

As usual +1 to all your comments with my respect and thanks.

(btw, I am not in. )

bjgamer: Well said! It is for these very reasons that the wife and I are finally making the switch and building new PC's with Mint for our holidays. :) As a pair of old gamers, it was the games that kept us from switching earlier - but now it seems like gaming in Linux has really caught up.
It's definitely catching up at least - and the more people that use Linux the more viable it will be for developers/publishers to bring their games to it & more games will be ported :)

The plan has been to run Mint with Windows VM for games that don't do Linux (Skyrim), but now it seems those games will be fewer than we thought. Your long list surprised us and includes several games we own. I've also taken note of suggestions/sites you and others here have referenced and may have a few questions after we're set up if you don't mind. It's great to see the support among GOG Linux players here.
Sure, feel free to ask if you have any questions :)

Starmaker: how do I install python 3.5 and IDLE on Mint (3.4 won't do, for "reasons")? I'm on Rebecca 32bit if it matters.
It looks like python.org don't provide precompiled packages for Linux, leaving the only official option for Linux being to compile it from source.

However others have had the same question and it seems there is a PPA that provides Python 3.5: https://launchpad.net/~fkrull/+archive/ubuntu/deadsnakes

Incognita97: Thank you for this giveaway and also thank you for bringing people out of the woodwork who are interested in Linux. I'm currently enrolled in a Linux class in college and we use Linux Mint in class regularly. I didn't know much about Linux until this year, but now I really enjoy what it can do. I've just installed Linux Mint on my dad's old computer, but I'm now thinking Anti X might work better on his really old system.
It might be worth trying Mint Xfce if you haven't already, as Xfce is a lot lighter than the other desktop options and should work better on older/weaker systems (although, except for KDE the others are still pretty light).

Engerek01: I couldnt figure out how to update drivers tho. When I open driver manager it only shows my Video card. I couldnt find a way to see and change my other drivers like sound or wireless Ethernet card.
Drivers are usually provided with the kernel (as long as they're open source), so updating the kernel will update the included drivers too & it's rare that you should have to install or update them separately. Proprietary drivers will need to be installed separately though.

CodeWeavers are working on (and making progress) getting newer versions of MS Office running in Wine/CrossOver: https://www.codeweavers.com/about/blogs/jschmid/2016/11/3/the-times-are-a-changing

I've bookmarked your previous linux thread and will make use of it once we get a new pc for the kids to use and I can have this one to experiment and play around with. But for now, with homework, research and all other manner of household activity being used for this one, can't afford to potentially risk messing it up.

Being an rpg addict, can't help but notice all your wonderful giveaways in that genre. I was able to resist your last giveaway but this one is a little tougher :).

May I enter for
Tyranny - Commander edition
Pillars of Eternity - Hero edition + The White March expansion
Hard West - collector's edition + Scars of Freedom
Lords of Xulima - deluxe edition
Baldurs Gate 1/2 Enhanced editions (I have both standard games of this set so no worries as I'm just curious about these as well as the new dlc that recently came out.)
Elder Scrolls classic bundle (likewise, I have played Morrowind via cd back in the day but don't have any of these games digitally so not a priority and never played Morrowind with mods so that's also a curiosity).

I think I should stop here with just the rpg titles that I'm more inclined to play asap.
Thank you very much and have a wonderful holiday season.
Vow, this is a really very huge giveaway.

Very commendable for promoting the Linux OS which has really come very far and is basically, in the form of Linux Mint, as easy to use as Windows XP. All you need is a bit of open mind to adapt to changes like using software center for installing apps instead of installers (that is for pre-windows 8 users).Athough you can still download apps via .deb packages and other ways if you wan't to. All the people who use Windows 8-10 will know what software center is - aka like windows store but for free apps (no online account needed for usage) and if you wan't some payable software. Linux at the moment gives you all the software you need, full control of the system and basically a very fast system.

Still running Linux Mint 17.3 at the moment. Waiting for new AMD drivers for R9 270x before I move to Mint 18.

Otherwise I'm very happy that we are getting more and more Linux games like Transport Fever, The Dwarves (man wish I had the money for it - loved the books from Markus Heitz on which the game is based), Besiege, Star Vikings and countless others. Just think about how a few years ago we didn't have anything to choose from.

Still wish we could get games like Cities: Skylines, Stellaris or Hearts of Iron IV at gog with Linux version. Hopefully in the future. Also hope to see the new Ai War 2 on gog next year, especially since it will have a native Linux version - thank you Arcen.

If I may I would like to enter your generous giveaway with a pick of these games (preference top->bottom):
- Tyranny - Commander Edition
- Satellite Reign
- Crysis
- SOMA
- Worms: Armageddon
- Transistor
- Pillars of Eternity: Hero Edition + The White March - Expansion Pass
- Lords of Xulima Deluxe Edition
- Divinity: Original Sin - Enhanced Edition
- Aragami
- Apotheon

About Linux: I have an interest in trying Valve's version of it, but I find it hard to believe I'll be trying it anytime soon, because I don't have an old machine I could spare experimenting on right now.
Falci

You have entered countless giveaways on gog and won countless games.

Do you even play those games or just hoard them thereby denying people who really want to play the opportunity to play those games.

Cuz damn dude....your greediness for games is extraordinaire.

Here we go again!
Thank you very much for this! As a user who recently bought a new laptop and decided to install linux on it I can agree that the windows is really not needed anymore. I also urge anyone to try different linux distros until you find the one you like the most! It's free and it's fun and you can even do it in a virtualbox virtual machine :D

If I'm selected i'd like one of these games

Baldur's Gate + Baldur's Gate II Enhanced Editions
Homeworld Remastered Collection
Invisible Inc. + Contingency Plan
Prince of Persia Sands of Time Pack
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines
