Thank you adamhm for this big giveaway.
I'm in, even if I'm currently not worthy of Linux.
(Mint missed the train! Maybe in the future..)

I'll try these:
1- Pillars of Eternity: Hero Edition
2- Victor Vran
3- The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind GOTY Edition

With the horrible Win10 around, 2016 could be the best year for Linux, BUT.. they should really improve Wine game\progs compatibility! (and better maintain that table on the site)
Now that's a nice idea, adamhm! +1 from me.

Not in for obvious reasons.
Apart from that I'm unfortunately stuck with "that glass pane system" for my main PC.
And I don't think anything but Freedom Planet would run on my 10 year old Linux Laptop. I already own that, though.

So instead thank you for spreading word about Linux compatibility.
Also, a happy new year to everyone :)
Thank you adamhm for another great giveaway! I would like to be in for the following games:

- Satellite Reign
- Pillars of Eternity: Hero Edition
- Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number
- Shadowrun: Hong Kong
- Hard West Collector's Edition
- Star Trek: 25th Anniversary + Star Trek: Judgment Rites
- Mark of the Ninja Special Edition
- Victor Vran
- Transistor
- Door Kickers
- The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind GOTY Edition
- Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power
- Tower of Guns
- Freedom Planet

leon30: If I have Linux Mint on sda5 and Windows 7 on sda1 and I want to replace, win with Ubuntu, how should I proceed in order to be able, after the Ubuntu install, to dual boot between Mint and Ubuntu - install Ubuntu + its boot loader and hope it will detect Mint or is there a way for the grub, that Mint installed, to auto pick up the new Ubuntu, if I don't install a boot loader during the Ubuntu install?
replacing the windows partition with a Linux OS of the same size is fairly easy since there is an option in the installer for that specific configuration.

you shouldn't have to worry about the boot loader as all that is dealt with automatically.

it wont hurt to install add a boot partition for every OS you install. when i tried something similar grub always failed to pick up the other OS.

hope this helps

Green_Hilltop: I like using Win 7 because it has many games compatible which aren't in later versions
if its only games you worry about then now isnt the best time to switch to linux.
there are far more games for windows than there are for pc.
even with wine, it takes more work to run exe files than it does in windows.

i choose to run Linux more for what it represents and i am a bit paranoid. if you just want you system to be as convenient as possible, then i see no reason to switch now.
What another fantastic giveaway!

I'll go in for this. And I'm stoked for OpenMW once it's a little more complete.

Here's what I'm in for:

Pillars of Eternity: Hero Edition
Hard West Collector's Edition
Door Kickers
Star Trek: 25 Anniversray + Star Trek: Judgement Rites
Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power

Thanks for the giveaway!
And if you folks haven't done it yet, try Linux!

I tried Linux after talking to some folks after your last giveaway. And I'm glad I did. All of the pain of Windows is gone. And I was paying for the pain! I had no idea Linux had come so far.

Thanks for the great tutorial and the giveaway. Have a great week!

Green_Hilltop: What is the point of trying out Linux? Usually I like to check out new OS but now I don't have the time nor space until I finish my PC cleanup (system restore just took out 10 GB two days ago). Or rather, what I mean is:

Are there any advantages of using Linux over Win 7?

I like using Win 7 because it has many games compatible which aren't in later versions, while you can always use VM to play older games with an emulated Win 98. Because Linux doesn't allow you to play many games that work on Win 7, let alone older games (or is the emulation on par with Win 7?), I don't see a reason to switch unless it has some advantages I don't know about - I can always get used to different apps for things like browsing (if I can transfer all my browser data, which I bet I can, even if only with extensions/other apps), or opening ebooks. But I don't see a reason to switch, unless there are things that Linux offers or has that Windows doesn't cover (or that Linux can do better) because of the lower game compatability. So, game compatability aside, what are the reasons you prefer or would recommend Linux over Windows, and with the game compatability as it is, do you think it's worth it?
I switched b/c Windows was eating all of my resources on my older PC once I switched to Windows 10. And Win10 and the MS ecosystem is the future of Windows. Win 10 will minimize your game and pop up an ad, it will restart your computer in the middle of an online game without asking, and on my PC it would download updates and hog all of my system resources for hours to do it.

WIn 7 was lots nicer. But it's gone in 5 years.

Linux solved all my problems. I can't play some games, it's true. But there's plenty enough to play to keep me occupied. So it works great for me. It does take some learning, though.

Oh, also, very few virus concerns. Yippee! :)

Unfortunately, I have a feeling that such a measure might considerably reduce the forum traffic in general.
I got Linux laptop gifted from work christmas party.

i have not tried playing any games on it even though it has high specs.

I am in for Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number or Shadowrun: Hong Kong.

Green_Hilltop: Oh cool! Can you explain more about how this works?

_a highly customizable system: my environment adapts to me, not the other way around

And when you say you can create things that you don't have, those that mean if I wanted to make my own sticky notes or or a browser extension that would cloud-sync, or something like "IF" that automates some actions like automatically uploading to cloud whenever I edited or create certain files in a folder, or transfer photos from my PC, I could do it? Relatively easily, with basic or slightly advanced knowledge of a programming language without spending over 40 hours on learning it and programming it? (ie. if I learned the language I could create such a software under an hour depending on the complexity, like these two examples?)

Green_Hilltop: Great! Just a note, though - was that meant to be a friendly response or a negative/annoyed one, given the way your phrased it?
Just a kind hint, as you can get much information from this thread. :-)
