It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

adamhm: The only reason to do things the way they seem to be doing it is if they want to restrict access to the DLC unless the client is used to authenticate it, i.e. as DRM for the DLC.
No it's not the only reason, it could just as well be human error. The DLC thing is a relatively new feature in the Epic store.
If Remedy really cared about DRM, then why did they just do a roll back on the main game?

ATM it's all just speculation.

You don't implement the code to do this and put it into the game itself in error. Installation/enablement of any DLC should be handled by the installer/client at the time of install, not upon running the game.

Because as they said in the article you posted it wasn't intended to affect the base game, just the DLC.
So Red Dead Redemption II goes to epic! As well as Rockstars own launcher. Another of those Epic Rockstar Xbox PlayStation timed exclusives (so everywhere except Steam in other words). All the old Rockstar games a going to get review bombed on Steam now.

You know, so many developers and publishers are now doing these deals that I think it can't just be about the Epic money handouts, I thinks some of the companies are also doing it to send Steam a message as well.

Almost every developer who has commented on it (including those that reject it) have stated that the guaranteed money is just too good to pass up. Too many games launch and fail for them to take the risk their game might be a sales dud.
does epic launcher have a built in web browser like steams web browser in big picture mode, also does origin have this type of browser also, cos im looking for a battle royale game to play, cos overwatch after 3 years has hardly any new content

At least this is only 1 month. And apparently fortnight profits are surging downwards so at some point them buying exclusives will probably end.

Apparently Epic's curation is looking at Steam's most wishlisted, so they already go for those less likely to fall. And if they underperform in Epic, what then? Will it cover their backs, or leave then alone with a pissed off playerbase for their next game.

Something many devs and publishers seem to totally miss is that they have no position of power towards players. We don't need their product to live, yet they behave as if we did and had to put up with their increasing bs.
Don't forget to pickup your free Farming Simulator 19. Anyway, I'm off...that back paddock isn't going plough itself you know.
So instead of poaching/snatching them (shortly) before they release on multiple platforms Tim Swiney & Company is snatching/poaching Remedy's, Playdead's and GenDesign's next games from the get-go. Which will then likely FOREVER be locked to the exclusivity boutique.

Epic Games is now a third-party multi-plat publisher, secures three big studios

This is what a lot of people insisted would be okay all along. "If they were Epic's games I wouldn't complain..." Well now they will be, and I bet people still complain 'cause at the end of the day for 90% of people it's about wanting everything on Steam.
Something to look forward to if you happen to partake of Epic's free offerings:

The comments from some people severely against Epic saying "they just want my phone number so they can sell it on the Chinese herbal supplement market" on places where the news has been posted are amusing, as if they've taken leave of their sanity in thinking that 2FA is only based around a phone number.

2FA means a phone number or email and both are bad overall. Having your email as a username is another retarded idea that spread everywhere.

Steam itself harvests your name and address when you buy a game and some of their games want a phone number for them. A phone number is asked for in order to unlock TF2 missions and rewards.
