Linko90: A fouls a foul hasn't applied in a long time now, see any top tier match or league. Defenders are literally running out of options these days purely down to poor officials and constant pushes for players to dive (more often than not if they don't dive they don't get anything, even if it was a foul). Human factors are always gonna be there, VAR's just a tool, not the decision maker
wpegg: Once the referee invokes VAR it should be 100%. VAR was invoked, and it should give the fairest result possible. I don't subscribe to the "everyone fouls a bit" logic, it's just giving more room to players breaking the game. Right now we see shameless rugby tackles in the area because they are aware that even with VAR they are bulletproof. If the Russian player hadn't accidentally backfooted the goal, that tackle would have been ignored, that's not football.
I beg 2 disagree, VAR were NEVER meant 2 replace or overturn the referee's decision, it is there solely 2 advise the referee on 4 major decisions only but the referee still has the final say in any match as some infringes may or may not be adjudged as a clear foul. All VAR is supposed 2 do is 2 give the referee a 2nd & perhaps clearer look & help the referee make a more informed decision.
While granted now there r technology such as offside cam 2 check 4 offside & goal-line technology which can really help provide a more accurate assessment whether a goal has been scored or not rather than rely on the referee & linesman 2 make those decisions, there r still parts of the game such as fouls which r not so clear-cut even with the assistance of VAR so ultimately it still falls on referee 2 make those judgement calls.
We may or may not agree with the referee's decision all the time but these has ALWAYS been part & parcel of the game since the introduction of referee & finalized rules. All we can do is put our support behind whichever team we wld like support, watch the game & hope 4 the best.
Edit: Made some changes, thks 2 ZFR 4 the info. :)
