vsr: They do not have a PHP programmer.
It will not be fixed.

Avogadro6: Well, that's a full-time position. But I reckon a few of the coders who are now working on Galaxy were formally site programmers. I can't believe there's nobody left on Gog with no knowledge of how their own forum works.
I hope so.
If not, they can hire someone on numerous freelance job sites. Most likely it will be fixed in a couple of hours (won't be expensive for GOG).

So, how long has the forum been here?
Since the beginning I believe, so 2008.
How many of the blues from that time are still here?
How many of those are programmers?

Gamerager seems to have been actually banned, that was around 2010 - 2011 I think (judging by a quick google of his name) so there was probably someone around then who knew what they were doing.
All the Gog programmers I know of are far newer than that, so yeah.. I can well believe they don't have anyone left who knows the ins and outs of how it works.
And judging by the awful mess it is I doubt it's the most well written and documented code, so learning it could take quite a bit of time.
Which circles back to the cost of devoting developer hours to a non essential part of the website.

zeogold: Not much of a surprise after about your 15th instance of "buttplug" or "you only have one ball, ha ha"
Which was retaliation for the abuse I copped and the abuse of family members.

And as I've stated numerous times, the same people complaining about others are usually the ones who created the problem.

The same ones who also complain about rep and it's abuse, yet have no problem doing it themselves.

zeogold: or your thread made to mock the CFFA.
No idea what that refers to.
I know I'm new here, but why aren't people up in arms for the rising amount of those "My thread that gets deleted" clones? Aren't those considered as spam also? I mean some that are against Alaric's regenerating threads here are all friendly in those threads.

If I missed something, my apologies but I don't really get the idea behind all this.

I'm here only since late 2011, but I guess the forums have always been here. Not sure if the forum software is the same as before the beta stunt though.

Programmers almost never post on the forums, so who knows who's still working here.

Gamerager was banned, and I know at least another user got a 1-year forum ban for admitting he put some Gog games on torrent. That was around 2013 IIRC.

So how could they even implement something like e.g. GOG Connect if they have no programmers left? Or sales with features like bundles, XP progress etc.? Isn't that something that requires programming?

Maybe it's not that they don't have anyone who knows what to do, but they simply are assigned to other tasks now (i.e. Galaxy).

<- doesn't know a thing about coding, if you were wondering. :P

Like i already said here, you can:

-->Vote here<-- to let GOG know that you don't like it.

Most peeps just don't care, because it doesn't concerns them. Sad but true.

Of course they have programmers, very competent capable ones. But they're not the ones who built the forum, and no matter how capable they are if the forum is really really badly made then they will struggle to fix it. Particularly without spending a lot of time on it, which Gog can't afford.

I know for a fact that is the case. After the account overhaul there are three parts of the site that weren't updated; the forum, the support section and the Gogmixes. Of those only one is truly important to what Gog does, and it's not the forum.
So which do you think is first on the list to get an overhaul?
And why do you think they were left behind in the first place while everything else was made shiny and new?

I do appreciate it and I voted that as I don't think people are willing to use the report spam function that much at the moment for other than "I don't like him/her".

What I'm wondering is that why are some people so up in arms against Alaric's thread but when someone else makes a thread with the same name with nothing than "Yes" inside it, it's all good in their eyes.

Thanks for bringing it to my attention, I completely missed it while quickly browsing through the pages.

It's kind of a tradition... when threads pop up that gather attention it's often the case that some kind of counter / mocking thread pops up that gently pokes fun at it.

Sure, they're probably spam too when you look at it closely, but I think the reason they aren't being deleted is cultural (and comes back to the reason that any threads get deleted at all, and that's the behaviour of the people posting them)

Crewdroog: I"m done with you. good luck in life! <3 You will not troll me.

Breja: Ah, yes, I forgot. Disagreeing with you = trolling. What a wonderfully simple world you must live in.
Disagreeing with someone's opinion is one thing. Behaving like a dick to someone having a different opinion is another.

Thanks for clearing that up. In my opinion, though, those are a lot more annoying and harder to ignore when they pop up in groups. Might just be better to focus on stuff on actual gaming threads so won't disagree with wrong people, if this is how things are in general.

I honestly have no idea what I did that was so dickish. I just explained how upside-down supporting Alaric is. I have simply described exactly what Alaric did, point for point.

Because some people, especially one particular member, detest Alaric because of JerkMuter.

This one particular member also has a few chat buddies who tacitly support him.

It's several people who are being horribly, over the top abusive to everyone who disagrees with them. This is why all those who support me in chat are not too eager to voice their support publicly. They simply don't want to put up with foul-mouthed abuse. And I fully approve of their decision to keep quiet. Just look at how Crewdroog got treated.

This is for suggesting that maybe deleting threads is not altogether a good idea. And it's coming from ostensibly a friend. Who will probably later say sorry and be surprised that "sorry" doesn't magically make everything you did go away.

It's how you voice your opinion. I've observed your explanations to be very ... abrasive.
