We've been trying to draw their attention to rep abuse for well over two years now.

I've been sending them copies of that extortion PM for well over a year.
There is a huge difference between rep-abuse and this. Granted it's a problem to have your rep constantly drop, but it's not much more than an annoyance and hardly life threatening (especially since link-posting can be worked around). However, the fact that complete threads can be deleted at will by anyone IS A VERY CRITICAL ISSUE.

ZFR: Come on. It's not his problem. This is a forum-wide serious flaw that affects everyone, that been trying to draw GOG's attention to it for a year now. And I for one I'm happy this is finally getting fixed.

It meant that anyone with enough coding skills, or sufficient patience, could literally delete any post made on this forum. Sure, it's Alaric's post that are getting deleted today (and as he demonstrated, it wasn't just his "spam" post; any post he made was being removed), but that could have been any one of you. If I'm not mistaken Conversation Free For All was being threatened because the original poster happened to annoy somebody, till Judas locked it.

If (a very non-obtrusive) spamming is what it took to finally get GOG to fix it, then so be it. I don't care what you think of Alaric, I'm grateful he did this before someone more malicious troll took notice of this exploit and started using it to delete useful posts that took ages to compile and cause serious trouble.

That said I wouldn't get my hopes up till GOG actually fix it. "Promising" is something they're exceptionally good at.

You are right. Even though you didn't read the first part of that sentence, you are still right.

Why should Tauto have any advantage?

In accordance with the ethics of the disclosure of security vulnerabilities I will make a write up of all the exploits I found and send it to the company along with proof of concept code for exploiting these vulnerabilities.

Normally, Google gives a 7 day window for the developers to fix published exploits. Some other security companies give as much as a month. I will give 3 months. And then, on the 15th of March I will publish the same exact write-up for all to see.

I can not bloody believe what I'm reading. It's like I'm in some mirror universe where black is white, up is down and Megan Fox can act.


The guy posts spam, his threads got deleted as spam. He proceded to spam even more, spam like his life depends on it, he openly offered a known troll the means to totally fuck up the forum,, are you not seeing this? Are blind, are you crazy? What more do you want? There was no abuse, no issue to fix. He was spamming, he got his shit deleted as spam.

The "fix" is to replace the forum software with some widely used software. Period. After that, disabling access (to the forum - he can still buy whatever he wants) to known spammers like Alaric.

I know because GOG promised me they'd never do that, and well, they've lied to me about everything else regarding this forum so it only makes sense they'd lie about that in order to keep a perfect record. :P

The guy literally offered to help a well known troll to destroy the forum, and GOG is going to help hi, instead of throwing his rotten carcass out the airlock.

This just boggles the mind. I have never seen anyone run a forum like this. Not to mention an official forum of a major store.
