I was originally thinking about the goody goody Federation as commonly depicted in TOS/TNG (as opposed to parts of DS9 or movies like ST VI where it wasn't so one dimensional). i assume you're talking about the novels? I'd like to know what novels/stories, as now you've got my curiosity piqued.

I just watched for the first time, and now I'm convinced that Rowan Atkinson is the best Doctor. <a href="http://www.gog.com/forum/general/star_wars_or_star_trek/post54" class="link_arrow"></a></div><div class="small_avatar_2_h"><img src="//images.gog.com/e380dd5e8249f4ce94a3f215ccf0d99c50bf82e19aacc8e4bc3bd02da7c7e8c6_avm.jpg" width="16" height="16" alt="avatar" /></div><span class="quot_text"><span class="quot_user_name">nightcraw1er.488: </span></span>Mmm, I always thought he was a bit too smarmy to be the Doctor. Richard E Grant now, he could do a good Doctor. And for a laugh, what about Brian Blessed, that would be something. <a href="http://www.gog.com/forum/general/star_wars_or_star_trek/post55" class="link_arrow"></a></div> I just hope we get to see Sean Pertwee as the Third Doctor in a multi-Doctor episode eventually. He looks so much like his father it would be a waste not to do it.[url=http://tribzap2it.files.wordpress.com/2015/06/sean-pertwee-jon-pertwee-instagram-bbc.jpg] All he needs is wig and he IS the Third Doctor.

I really liked McGann too; it's just a pity that his character got screwed over by FOX's poor planning with their TV movie. Despite the fact that he went on to be one of the most prolific Doctors from his appearances in books, audio dramas, comics, etc., I find that he's still practically unknown among people I meet who call themselves Doctor Who fans.

When I start asking them about what they thought about the whole arc with Night/Day/Time of the Doctor, their eyes seem to glaze over and the conversation seems to immediately turn back to how much they loved Turn Left (Heh, funny how they don't remember Love and Monsters).
Still, it's nice to hear that McGann got more recognition after Night of the Doctor. And at least the Tennant Fangirls/Fanboys share my dislike for Clara.

When I was younger, Star Wars. The original trilogy.
I didn't like Star Trek much as a tv series but was ok with the movies (especially Wrath of Khan).
Then along came ST:NG and I watched it all the time. Given my age, that was "my" Star Trek. The original just seemed like some boring old tv show.
Now, however, aside from loyalty to the original SW trilogy, I think I may have to say I prefer ST overall. I can watch the originals and be amused by the over-acting and bad sets. I'll still watch NG (still over-acting but better sets!). I'd probably watch the others too if they were on. Maybe they are, I just don't know.
It surprises me to say that, but that's reality. I always used to be a SW fan, but as far as I'm concerned they've ruined everything.

Star Trek.
Yeah, I run into a ton of "Doctor Who" fans, but they've never seen any of the original series before the reboot. I try not to judge, I really do, but I feel they're just jumping on the bandwagon. And I could never say this like I want on my Facebook, or my house would be torched. :P
