Breja: Honestly, I didn't feel like that was a problem. It really not that different in terms of humor from TFA. There was one scene that actually made me immediately think of Space Balls, but for the most part I think the humor worked ok. And I am by no means a fan of Marvel-style jokes, not even in the Marvel movies.
StingingVelvet: Fair enough. It seems to be something people differ over. I read one joke example about Luke dusting off his robes during an intense moment that sounded terrible, but I wouldn't know.
Huh. I didn't even think of that one as a joke. It actually makes perfect sense in context of what he's doing in that scene.
StingingVelvet: I'll see the movie eventually, either in theaters or on 4k blu-ray, but the word of mouth is taking away my eagerness.
I actually found the divided word of mouth encouraging. Force Awakans had almost only positive opinions, and it was a boring, bland nothing of a movie. This, at least, is somewhat interesting and I think the divided reception reflects that. It's full of flaws, I won't even argue that it's "good" (as evidenced by my long and incomplete list of complaints), but at least it's interesting. It will leave you with stuff to think about and talk about, and for me that in itself is a win. And besides, it's never a good idea to put too much stock in popular opinion.
