Red_Frog: + for that, looks good. I will not install Steam for any reason though, so here's a wish if anybody is interested. I just added my vote!
I'm with you on the no Steam policy and had the same problem tracking down a non-drm installer.
You can get the newest version (1.2) from Screen7's website thought. No need to stick to the old version.

omegaunit: Not sure putting a coat on will save their PCs though :)

Stilton: I grant you there might be one or two logistical problems, but dammit mankind has put men on the moon. A quick jaunt half way around the world shouldn't be a problem.
I concur.

Yup, I went to school with a kid who at the age of 13 got a game reviewed in Crash Magazine. Got a higher rating than most of the professional games being built at the time. Written entirely in Basic with a Poke hacked font for the graphics :)

And a plus for you, good sir!

I have found apparently, according to their forum, that they plan to reinstate separate downloads from their website once they have completed work on v1.2.1.

psyciceman: Mornin guys, good to see that I didn't really miss anything. What's Smugglers like? Seems like a tbs version of a sort of game I've been wanting.
If just by looking at the screenies and reading the description it sounds like something you'd like, you'll probably really like it. The combat is a bit too luck-oriented and can get tedious, but more often than not it's avoidable to a certain extent. Also, you'll probably want to save-spam, as you never know what's gonna get thrown at you sometimes. There's a vast universe and a ton of variety of things to do, the tech tree is rather large. I thoroughly enjoy it, but I don't mind tedious as long as it delivers what I want.

Crash Magazine. Well now I feel old thanks :)

Alien8n: No it doesn't, but for every game downloaded a Justin Bieber fan gets killed by a Nordic black metal fan.

mc_leod: So tomorrow we will read of some mysterious fatalitys amongst bieber fans
Oh, I'd love to read that in the morning with a nice cup of coffee
I went ahead and took one for the team. Game number 28 and no freebies yet,

Went on the Steam forums to see what the folks over there were saying and some of the complaints actually made me more interested in the game. Stuff like

1) Complaint - I can't hold my pirate empire together
Answer - Keep taxes high and no debt (defies conventional wisdom for the win)

2) Complaint - I took a break due to back surgery and cant find my 100 million dollar in factory assets due to a poor GUI.
Answer - no answer but I like the fact that the game allowed that type of game play

4) Complaint - I read around and after looking around I don't see how I can raid a plant or conquer one.
Answer - there were answers but I like my space game to also have a planetary aspect, not just be a flying sim

3) Complaint - I'm Admiral and use a Stonewall battleship with long range lasers, it blasts everything to pieces...no challenge...mumble
Answer - there were answers but for me easy games are fun and sending in long range blaster to smash stuff sounds like a fine way to spend $2.49
well guys Im off. I need some sleep to earn my salary to pay for those games.

Good night ar whatever daytime it is and good luck with your games.

First program I ever wrote was a Black Jack game for my TI-82.

Thanks, I decided to just grab it anyway, at this price I've really got nothing to lose. Funny that this was my most expensive pick up so far.

Stilton: All right everyone, its party time. Grab your favourite drink, your best game and your PC and be round at my place in ten minutes. I've got plenty of plug sockets and if we run out of chairs just sit on the floor. About time we met face to face is the way I see it. No begging off or you'll owe the rest of us a game. Right, get your skates on!
avatar
musteriuz: Can one skate from Africa to Britain?
Sure!
just a matter of time
and maybe a good breathing for the street of gibraltar

OK, I think we are gonna need a boat now...

Can we hijack a cruise ship? I could totally drive one.
