Momo1991: Btw, the Ether One dev got back to me about my issues running the game. Apparently his mother had the exact same problem. He gave me some setting advice and now I can run it ;-) Also he's working with Intel to tweak the game settings so it runs better on laptops. I do love me a responsive developer!
Ace! I like it when devs are good that way. How is the game, incidentally? It's on my wishlist for eventual (inevitable) acquisition.

jadeblackhawk: Will there be a separate weekend sale or is this it?
Probably...but it remains to be seen when I2 is over...
Had a nice six hour nap, came back to see it's still as slow as Keane Park.
Turns out I also missed on Bard's tale, crap.
At least we're making progress and we won't have to devolve to raiding the Steam forums again.
So, how we all doing? How are things moving along / everyone getting their wants of choice?

Nooooo! My second dessert! Now I have to find something else to go before the Crème Brûlée!

So far it is a lot of fun - I keep tweaking the mouse settings to make them respond a bit better. I'd also love a bigger "hand" since the game uses a tiny little square and I keep losing where I'm trying to click. But yeah, it's beautiful, immersive, eerie and I love a game that requires you to keep good notes. I'm really looking forward to the updates though - hopefully I'll then be able to play it fullscreen.
Is Jack Keane 2 coming back through? I kind of want to actually buy it...

Damnit, I missed Zork didn't I? Stupid sleep, oh well at least for me its over now. Zork was the last one I was after. Had pretty good luck, managed to snag 10 games I didn't already have, only missed Uru and Zork. If anyone wants to trade or keep me in the game by sleeping and leaving me as lookout in exchange just let me know. It's been a blast guys. The bags under my eyes were worth it haha :)
Okay, I did my part - I grabbed a giftcode for Syberia 2 to move things along.

phaolo: I hate boring but good looking things, it's a wasted potential! (and waste of time)
Ever played Longest Journey? For me that could be 7.5 or 8/10, what's your vote?

Kamamura: Yes, I did finish Longest Journey some 10 years ago, but did not like it much. It's slightly better for the variability and for more complex, albeit not very original plot.
However, all the little fluffy BenBanda, Crow, and other insufferable cuddly Jar-Jar-Binx style little "friends" make the game difficult to play.
I would give it 7 out of 10, mostly for the effort that went into the lore and storytelling.
7 is too low in my opinion.
The plot is way better than usual, even if ok, it's quite overused by now.
Little friends.. not so much annoying as Jar-jar.
For me the only problem is that the dev couldn't choose a great ending, but just a good one (a bit.. anticlimatic?)
I quite enjoyed playing all the game, anyway.

Did you know that Zork I - III are free now, if I am not mistaken?

Sazanamistyle: I actually agree with this appraisal of the first Syberia. I've never played Syberia 2, but I do remember a lot of adventure games from that period had this going on to the point where it seemed like a trend. Still Life, Syberia, The Longest Journey, and so on bled into games like A Vampyre Story and Gray Matter. Not that making more games with female protagonists isn't a positive development, but of those I thought Syberia was the weakest.

If I'm going to warm to an adventure with really limited interactions and where the characterization of places and characters is so little reflected in what I can click on with my mouse, I'd at least want a clearer definition of what I'm doing. Syberia was more bewildering than mysterious and I felt like I was locked up in my aunt's attic with a bunch of toys from a bygone era and several of her friends speaking about people and places I couldn't understand. It was frustratingly designed, although beautiful and really quite a shallow game. There were a lot of other games from that period that did a much better job with the ethos it had going.

Kamamura: Exactly. My idea of a good adventure game is Monkey Island, Blackwell series, Gemini Rue, Dreamweb, Gabriel Knight, stuff like that.

Lot's of stuff to examine, witty comments, dynamic plot, development of characters and their relations, such things.

Those games consisting of a lonely cute female leisurely jogging through a statically rendered 3D scenes where only the item necessary to push the plot forward is interactive are abominations.

Plus I hate arbitrary puzzles!
That's the point of the game. It's like a cold winter dream. It's not about crazy, whimsical adventures ala Monkey Island. It's a journey of a person following his/hers dream no matter how ridiculous it might be. At times it's really surreal but still comprehensible.

If you can't slow down, you wont enjoy the game.

Also, i detect allot of negativity towards the female protagonist. Her being "cute" was never a selling point of the game.

Great, thanks for the info. Perhaps by the time I get around to buying it all the patches will be in place as well.

Oo, yes! I missed those, they were behind the Pfeffernüsse. Those will go lovely, and the Baklava last.
Someone have spare code for LBA2? Or for trade?
