Ungunbu: why everyone continue saying FTL is a roguelike?
Maighstir: From a review of the game:
Comparing FTL to a rogue like could be a dangerous game. Even the developer acknowledges their own comparison of their game to a rogue like is “loose”, and used mostly to describe the thematic elements of “permadeath, randomly generated game worlds, relatively short play sessions (5-90 minutes), and a single-player focus.” But rogue likes are what rogue likes do. As you move from encounter to encounter enjoying an RPG style stats progression, collecting loot and conserving resources. Comparing FTL to a rogue like is very fair. For re-playability the game offers players the ability to unlock more ships to play through the game with, by both getting achievements and playing through in game events.
Maighstir: i do not agree that "Comparing FTL to a rogue like is very fair" -- i presume you played games like rogue, angband, tome etc.. ;) most important thing imho is that they are turn-based :) FTL has a kind of "active-pause" feature which is very different

btw -- i bought FTL during this sale and i'm really enjoying it -- just it doesn't feel like playing a roguelike
