triock: How long? :D

jetarr: 11"... wait, what are we talking about?
We were talking about tonight's lovely walk through Keane Park
The Bard's Tale sounds quite interesting, which should be appearing after Raiden. Probably it's the insomnia and the wait time talking, but I think they may be onto something.
Sweet only one I missed a shot at overnight was LBA2. Still have to play the first so that's okay.
Star Control 2 is best on the 3DO.

Ungunbu: why everyone continue saying FTL is a roguelike?
From a review of the game:
Comparing FTL to a rogue like could be a dangerous game. Even the developer acknowledges their own comparison of their game to a rogue like is “loose”, and used mostly to describe the thematic elements of “permadeath, randomly generated game worlds, relatively short play sessions (5-90 minutes), and a single-player focus.” But rogue likes are what rogue likes do. As you move from encounter to encounter enjoying an RPG style stats progression, collecting loot and conserving resources. Comparing FTL to a rogue like is very fair. For re-playability the game offers players the ability to unlock more ships to play through the game with, by both getting achievements and playing through in game events.

i do not agree that "Comparing FTL to a rogue like is very fair" -- i presume you played games like rogue, angband, tome etc.. ;) most important thing imho is that they are turn-based :) FTL has a kind of "active-pause" feature which is very different

btw -- i bought FTL during this sale and i'm really enjoying it -- just it doesn't feel like playing a roguelike

_zero_: Well I bought raiden as my first game on gog :) I rather wish I had read past the first page of reviews first :( It is awesome. But the framerate goes to shit fairly quickly once you get to the faster parts with more enemies on screen (and I have a nice gaming pc too) :( Oh well. Otherwise it would be a great retro shoot em up :/
That's why I was stoked to see it on sale, my heart wanted it but my head said no. At $2 my head can STFU lol.
I prefer the term rogue-lite for games like FTL and Rogue Legacy.

I think the actual term is "roguelike like", or even "roguelite". I guess it's a new genre that will eventually develop its own name (hopefully)

btw i'm a programmer and currently working on an old school roguelike game myself -- still in early development though
