My first computer was an Acorn Electron with a cassette deck as well. Remember the quick rewind and then Play whenever the code misplayed?
Although have you heard about this? http://www.gizmag.com/sony-185-tb-magnetic-tape-storage/31910/
Everything old is new again...

CatintheHeat: A couple fun dungeon crawlers that I haven't seen for sale anywhere are "Legacy of the Ancients" and "Legend of Blacksilver."
wow they look oldskool, bet they're merciless :)

Neverfree: Great to hear finally! :D

Stilton: Where in Ethiopia are you?
Well. I was really hungry at work and decided Ethiopia best fit my predicament. Haven't changed it back, as I kind of like it now :) Hehehe

Tarnicus: Eye of the Beholder series is the one closest to Grimrock that I can think of.
avatar
Neverfree: Never heard of it Tarnicus :O Not on GOG as far as I can tell, but I'm pretty blind after all
It's an oldie that was the major influence for Legend of Grimrock being developed :)

lowtechgeek: Does GOG have something similar to a friends list? I'm not seeing anything like that, and I don't want to forget all of the awesome people!
Nope. GOG must improve their social network side.

I thought maybe you moved there during these couple lulls in the action.

It would be quite a coup to get that old SSI stuff, I bet they've tried.

That's awesome. I used to have a Colorado Tape Backup Drive on my system. I still have it and all the tapes with tons of old software and backups on them. Great medium for backups, but have misplaced the software that encodes and decodes them so now useless.

Oh wow, I have that for the Sega CD, now that I think about it. It has no manual though, so I couldn't figure out how to play it. I might have to go download some instructions from somewhere and give it another shot sometime.

CatintheHeat: My first dungeon crawler is a game called DND made for the PDP-11 mainframe. The same developer also created a game called Telengard for the first microcomputers. You had to load the game from a cassette tape.
We have a PDP-11 in our garage...moved it 2,000 miles in the last move ;-p

There is a bicycle-type pack for the disks too...and a printer the size of most computer desks ;-p

The big problem is getting the rights, or finding who owns them. That's why good games do get abandoned. One series of games I'd love to see for sale here is Road Rash for Sega and PC.
Hello again :)
Was able to check on my smart phone when Alan Wake's was just starting and after buying 29 games I get AW for free LOL
Oh Man!

You guys just reminded me of "Lords of Aragon" think that was SSI...

I used to love playing that old thing.... except those Elves were so nasty with their bows

Ah, it's SWORD of Aragon...

Ouch... congrats? On the bright side, I guess it's not half bad.
