LOL
Alan Wake's Recurring American Nightmare
I loved the original "Pool of Radiance" and "Curse of the Azure Bonds" for my C-64. I still remember having to fight the vampire in PoR.

I definitely will, I'm done shopping now and no freebies for me. Great to see so many getting them though, they sure did seem like a myth last insomnia sale.

PoR was a bit of a religious experience for me, I play it through every couple of years still.

CatintheHeat: A couple fun dungeon crawlers that I haven't seen for sale anywhere are "Legacy of the Ancients" and "Legend of Blacksilver."
Loved the first one. I didn't buy the second one cuz I thought it looked too similar (sorry I didn't get it now). I loved playing The Stones of Wisdom (their version of Liar's Dice) in Legacy.

Think I'll go see if it's on the wishlist....

I thought so too before I got a freebie close to the end of this last round, just keep trying until the end!
There's the autum Insomnia sale too I hope. This format has been so popular that GOG has no reason to not do it again.

Cyberevil: Oh Man!

You guys just reminded me of "Lords of Aragon" think that was SSI...

I used to love playing that old thing.... except those Elves were so nasty with their bows
The Beholders were nasty business as well, I can distinctly remember the first time I stumbled upon one, and realizing a little too late just how powerful they were. There I was with my head down mapping another little corner when sounds of my party dying came upon my ears. Panic ensued as I tried to retaliate and then flee. Alas, too late, everyone died. Back to my last save game...
When you mention SSI, I think of the AD&D Gold Box series of games. There were a lot of them. They started with Pool of Radiance then Curse of the Azure Bonds, Secret of the Silver Blades, and then Pool of Darkness and that was just the first series. There were several more series of these games. You could take your characters from lvl 1 and work them up to the highest lvl in the games which was 40 by transferring them into the next game of the series. I still have saved games for all of the games I played in those series.
These were before the Eye of the Beholder series of games. When SSI Stopped making the gold box series is when they started the EOB series.

@IAmSinistar: If I remember correctly you were asking ... counter definitely decreases not when you hit "Buy now". It even takes a short time after you have sent banking data before it decreases (but that's probably processing latency).

expopower: It's not really a bad game, despite its sales performance right now. A step down from the original Alan Wake, I felt, but still a worthwhile addition to the story. I think it's just that most people here own it already through some distribution channel.

Edit: Nonetheless, thank you for contributing to the greater good. =D

eiii: So you don't lose too much from the story when you don't have played the original?

Me don't want to be lured into buying the original Alan Wake. :P

Edit: Should have been a question ...
Well...in terms of story, American Nightmare is generally standalone, though a few elements aren't going to make as much sense without playing the first game. Gameplay-wise, It keeps the franchise's unique light-based gameplay, with some interesting additions.

Playing it won't spoil much of the story if you play the original afterwards, though playing them in order might let you appreciate some of the details more.

I thought the original Alan Wake was really good - it's worth picking up next time you see it for cheap!
