Tarnicus: Hey craig Ive noticed you miss and ask for quite a few things so far in multiple threads. Why not stick to the GOG gifting or classifieds thread eh? When one person stands out as constantly missing or asking for things, it doesn't give the best appearance. Yes I note everything I see when it comes to begging :P
LeoLR: Sometimes I see you as a bouncer. :)
Merely a lighter version of the all-seeing Eye of Sauron :P I've seen so many people's good intentioned generosity get taken advantage of here, and it doesn't do the community any good...some wonderful members have left as a result of the way these forums have changed. I'd prefer to encourage that spirit that remains well and truly, and instead shine a light on those who are here to leech. I'm not saying that everyone I "call out" has bad intentions, but I try to do so nicely and how people respond and continue to act afterwards is something I take note of.
I honestly think the reason the ever watchful eye notes all this stuff is from playing Ultima Online. I was mesmerised when I started that game, and very naive. I thought it was going to be a bunch of diehard Ultima fans joining forces to destroy "evil" together and roleplay and wow what a shock I got. I thoroughly enjoyed taking comprehensive notes on people and trying to help others once I saw how much scamming went on in that game.
Want to make a good impression on GOG? Its just like any other social interaction. If you meet someone for the first time and the first thing you do is ask them for something, what does that say about one's character compared to the person who offers? I'm not saying that it is wrong to ask, far from it. But when I see someone continually ask and offer nothing (or offer words and not follow through with actions) I notice :)
